They didnt' show the whole thing. They showed only clips of it and all in slow mo. This is why people watch hockey and why the NHL is a dying sport. You don't see this type of stuff anymore and when you get a chance you cut to a commercial.

Our defence has collectively been suspect for several games now.
Some thoughts:
-Brodie looks out of sorts, and not just because of a new partner. He often seems to be puck-watching, losing his actual man. Unlike him.
-No more Stone on the PK, unless he wants to use his size down low and clear guys out of the crease.
-Hamilton remains an early season enigma...sometimes signs of brilliance, sometimes panicky passes out of our zone (or up the middle).
-It would be nice if one of our D-men hit the net on the PP
However...
-Kulak looks increasingly confident with each game
-Gio seems fine
-Brodie, Hamilton & Hamonic will eventually find their games
-We (somehow) still have a winning record
Therefore...
This loss stinks because of how easily the game got away on us. But there is good reason to believe they will figure this out—I just hope it’s as soon as next game.

Lots to talk about, but the one thing that can't be debated is that brawl-is-about-to-begin commercial cutaway timing by Sportsnet was deplorable.

Exactly. Losses happen, even blowouts happen to the best teams.
I cannot stomach the Slap Shot level of respect that the Red Wings gave the Flames tonight, and they ultimately waited until the latter parts of the 3rd period when they knew it would likely be too late for the Flames to respond and they weren't going to face them again. That's cowardly.
Witkowski telling Hamonic to bring it after he rag dolled the smaller Kulak who was already down on the ice: Disgusting.
Witkowski further instigates by beaking at the Flames bench as he goes off the ice, only to return to the ice after the officials had escorted him off: Disgusting and suspension worthy. None of the rest of this stuff happens if he just shuts up and heads off the ice.
Then in the scrum, Mantha hammers the defenseless Hamonic while on his back in the opposition penalty box where the official can't get in between them.
Whatever happened to "the code"? Mantha should be ashamed of himself. That's worse than some of the goon-like plays I've seen over the years.
Then the refs decide to ensure that the few hometown fans are happy by giving all the penalties to the Flames, even giving them penalties for criticizing them. Such sensitive souls these refs.
I'm disgusted by what I saw tonight, both from the Flames, but also from the Red Wings and the officials. This is one of those games that makes me rethink spending my time watching hockey.

Detroit-esque officiating there. I get that the refs were trying to gain control of the game, but that's not the right way.
Games like this is when you wish that the Flames had more size and physicality.
My hat is off for Kulak for answering the bell even though he didn't need to - and shouldn't have needed to if the refs were actually on top of things.
Though I wanted to see a line brawl at the end there, good composure on Gulutzan for keeping his composure. Last thing the Flames need is to deal with suspensions, especially against an Eastern Conference team that they will not meet again this season.
Too bad we didn't have Engelland still. He would have had a talk with Witkowski right away the first time he tried to have a fight.
As for the loss... Detroit just out-skated Calgary, and out-competed them. I am glad this was the first game of the road-trip (disagree with Randorf on this one). Hopefully this will remind the Flames how important it is to compete off the start, or risk getting embarrassed. Really hope this lights a fire under their butts. They haven't been playing badly in this last stretch, but they have sometimes come out poorly in the first period too often, and have been having too many defensive lapses. I don't even blame Lack. He wasn't particularly good or anything (you have to make a save on a couple of those shots, even if he didn't exactly let in a bad goal), but I can't hang this loss squarely on his shoulders.
Hopefully there will be some supplementary discipline with Witkowski coming back, and Mantha on Hamonic.
Man, do I miss Engelland sometimes.
You just have to move on from this game and take the lesson. Lesson is that the refs still love the Wings, and that the Flames better come out of the gates more prepared.

I haven't been this excited about a game since Calgary beat the piss out of Vancouver off the draw. This is what sport is missing. Excellent.

Can someone tell me where I can go to listen to the post-game interviews? I need to hear the response by the league and the coach, and basically, I wanna see Trev saying something as well.

If the NHL has any sense, Witkowski gets 10 games for leaving the bench to re-engage and Tkachuk's spearing major gets rescinded. Ferland might be in trouble though.
Other than that, crap game. Forget it, move on, beat the Flyers.

Stop with the Gillies hate, not his fault on his goals against. With that said would love to see Lack gone and Rittich in his place.
