I'm not totally opposed to Versteeg on the PP. I just hate where they have him. Too much of the play goes through him and when he's on the point it's doubly troublesome.

I think Smith being out for a couple games will be good in the long run. GG will hopefully be able to see that the D isn't playing right and that without a fantastic goalie bailing them out, they aren't doing much. So, hopefully, he now sees the problems and fixes it and works on it for a little bit now so when Smith is back, we are better defensively.

Just two days ago Pinder, Warrener and the boys were discussing this and the conclusion they came to was it had more to do with him being paired with Giordano. I do believe playing with Gio makes most defenders look better but I also feel Brodie probably needs to play with a partner that complements him and I'm not sure Hamonic is that guy right now. I think Gulutzan should probably examine putting Stone back on the 2nd pairing at least until Hamonic starts to play better and earns that 4th spot as I feel he's been gifted it.

It's been more than a year since the change was made. He's pretty much the same player he's always been. Even back then, he was prone to mistake and poor ability to clear the front of the net. I think he's better overall now than he's ever been, but he still has the odd game where he looks poor.

People need to move on from this lefty/righty thing with Brodie. It won't make a difference... AT ALL.

Plus it's not just a GG thing... anything to pour on a coach who's more patient and willing to work on deficiencies in practice rather than shotgun approach and hope something sticks.

Brodie just needs to relax and use his skating more.

Has Brodie ever looked elite on the right side next to anyone other than Gio? Maybe it's just that he has awesome chemistry with Gio rather than specifically needing to be on the right side. Gio definitely can be great at covering for his partner's mistakes as well.

He's been good in the corner on the PP. He almost scored tonight's goal from there, scored vs MIN on the PP that way.

The risk/reward of him on the point is crazy lopsided.

Especially when having a shooter in that position (Stone), would change the dynamic of the PP and the PKers would have to respect that onetimer, allowing for more time/space for Johnny on the left halfboards.
