I hope Jagr works it out but, aside from a couple plays that Molson mentioned, its pretty true that he was behind a lot and not particularly effective last night. HIs lack of speed is more evident when I watched live for some reason.
Defensively and in transition, he was not very good at all. I like his reach (and man is his stick long). But I thought Jankowski and Bennett were far more dangerous.

Jagr - 2 pts in 6 games.
Bennett and Jankowski combined - 22 games and 0 points.
Jagr needs to go.

I think he was slower last night then any of this previous home games.

Both Bennett and Jankowski looked more dangerous last night with Jagr than they have in the last few weeks with Lazar or anyone else. Jagr is going to help turn those two around and get them producing. Trust me, I've seen it before with Jagr.

He was sure bent over in his skating. Like Raymond used to be (only Raymond was fast).

definitely glad that Ferland stepped up and the top line is set.
I think Jagr's skating and general play thus far has NOT warranted top line minutes. However, he's only going to get better, and on the third line, I think he's going to be just fine there.
Not too worried about him.
I think people just need to reset their expectations a little. It's freaking Jagr, but he's not a young man and is not a game breaker any longer, just a nice piece of the puzzle.

Don't forget, fresh returning from a groin injury, which can be problematic for YOUNG athletes, nevermind a 45 year old. If his skating looked a little off, I'm sure he'll be fine in a few games as long as he doesn't aggravate it (knock on wood).

I can't believe people are complaining about Jagr lol!
Even if his line doesn't score last night, the cycle game and possession when he was on the ice was atleast wearing down the Canucks. When that happens it will lead to scoring chances.
Complaining about Jagr... C'mon guys

Hopefully. It does, to a large extent, additionally justify the use of the fourth line for greater minutes, if Jagr can't go for that long.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Two things I've noticed watching Jagr play this season (albeit in limited viewings, obviously) are that his eyes and his hands remain elite. So impressive.

Also, Jagr had a hamstring injury, an injury he said never had before and wasn't sure how it'd respond.
At worse, pretty good guess is that his conditioning, which he was just finally getting when he got the injury, went down the tubes this last 10 days as he couldn't/didn't know how to push a hamstring injury and had to let it rest in general rather then work out on it.
He looked last night like he did the first game vs LA cardio wise. He'll need a few games again to get back to game shape for sure, cardio wise. By that point I suspect he'll be back on the PP too.

I'll put a bold prediction out here: Jagr doesn't make it to the end of January.
He'll retire before the season's over.
What he said last night in the interview about being scared of injuries is not a "Buy" on a 45 year old hockey player.
The puppy love will subside. Calgary's offense is very bad. 3rd last in the League
Moves will be made. The whole entire offensive system is a mess and shows zero signs of changing.
PS: I've hated this signing from the beginning. Not a fan of Ferland being on the First Line either. I'm a man who likes to let his top horses run. Bennett Monahan Gaudreau...
Burying Bennett is not good for his confidence. He's never played 3rd line in his life. I don't see why anyone should start him there. But it's all for the team though right?
He'll play out his 2 years here and go light it up where people believe in his skills.

Jagr wasn't even on the ice for a goal against last night... Idk how anyone could think he's the problem.
The problem is we have $7.5mil tied up in Brouwer and Stajan who play on our 4th line. You just can't do that these days. I wouldn't even be surprised if Brouwer is bought out before the end of his deal.

Jagr is 45 and not 35, give it a few more games and see what happens. But our bottom 6 need to show up offensively soon

This is a rare phenomenon. I have never, before this moment, disagreed with every single thing a poster has said.
Congratulations. You win the prize.

First thing's first. I'm never scared to eat my words or be proven wrong when there is no money on the table.
Smith is doing great! I'm happy it's going well for him here. Too bad he hasn't had much support. What was the record around this time last year? I don't know but it may be a wash...
I would put my money on the Flames making the Playoffs. But, I think the direction of the offence is completely wrong. I think Jagr was a dumb signing it made the team slower when the NHL is getting faster.
As for the disagreement award. I get paid to be disagreed with. I'm humbled. Beats being on the bandwagon of "Jagr or Death" fans.
