Default Favorite Broadcaster(s)

For me it would have to be

Chris Cuthbert
- Absolutely criminal he is stuck on TSN right now. The right mixture of knowledge and getting stoked on big plays. Little to no bias on any teams

Dave Randorf
- I think he's the most exciting of the new breed for national games.

Bob Cole
- Legend

Honorable Mentions

Rick Ball
- He's way way way better than Millions / Kerr / Loubardias we had for many years

Peter Mahar
- No explanation needed

On a side note I really dislike the Flames radio guy Derek Wills. It's sometimes a bit over the top in an attempt to ramp up the excitement for my liking

I'm in the minority - I liked Peter some-kind-of-announcer Loubardias. Not as the greatest ever but as an entertaining regional broadcaster.

Chris Cuthbert is by far the best hockey PBP guy alive today.

I loved Luobo. I think outside of Ed Whalen, he has been the best TV broadcaster that the Flames have had for local coverage in my time as a Flames fan.

Nah I am with you.

While he can be over the top, I think it is genuine and not just for the sake of the broadcast.

It is so awesome to listen to him when he is calling the TSN games on centre ice. He is so good even Ray Ferraro can't bring him down!

He was/is great at broadcasting junior hockey. Was a shame when Shaw stopped playing some Dub games every so often, especially the playoffs when Peter would come back if the Flames were done/not playing. The passion Peter has for junior hockey is incredible.

Can't forget about Gord Miller as well. The World Juniors wouldn't be the same without hearing his voice during the Christmas season.

For my money, Doc Emrick is the best PBP in the business. I always search out the NBC feed during the playoffs.

I am a big fan of Ball - we've been spoiled these last couple years with him and Hrudey.

Loubardias was great too. I appreciate his passion.

Overall, I think Cuthbert is the best right now.

I grew up watching Flames TV broadcasts by Ed Whalen, I think he deserves at least an honourable mention.

Harry Neale is my favorite colour commentator of all time. Crazy how he got started into it though. Got suspended when he was the head coach of the Canucks for fighting with fans in the stands, and then Roger Nielson took over and took them to the Cup finals.

and who can forget this call? just classic! "Watch the lawsuit Tie! watch the lawsuit!" Who was the PBP guy? can't figure it out.

Chris Cuthbert all the way . . . Remember him calling the Marty Genlinas goal against Vancouver and Steve Montador goal against SJ in '04 ... You couldn't be happier as a Flames fan.

I'm a big fan of Gord Miller. I love listening to him during the WJC broadcasts. I can't recall him ever doing any Flames games. But I think him and Ferraro are actually a pretty good duo.

I actually think Pierre McGuire is pretty good too. Sure he has his weirdo moments. But he's very knowledgeable and has some pretty interesting stories about players.

I'm probably one of the few who doesn't really care about who is commenting or nit picks things like their voice or excitement levels. As long as they are somewhat following the play, that's all I care about. I even thought Millions did a good job.

The only guy who blows is the Stockton Heat guy. Truly unbearable and he's the one guy I mute when I'm watching highlights. Someone has to sit that guy down and explain to him to get his #### together.

I don't think the national guys have much if anything on Ball and Hrudey, plus they know the team so much better.

Other than that, it's a huge minority opinion but I'm not fond of Cole. Homerisms sneak in every now and then. I think I was turned off years ago when the Leafs had a lead on Calgary early in the game (3-0 or something) and he said something about the Leafs taking it to the "highly touted Calgary Flames" (this was back when they were good). Fun fact - Calgary came back and beat them. Quite easily.
