Last season I already said I don't see the kind of hockey IQ in Bennett to become a real high-end constant scoring machine some envisioned (~70-80 point seasons etc.)
However, he's nowhere NEAR this bad either. If he's not seeing a sports shrink already, I'd probably recommend it, because I think he's got some worse than average confidence issues that keep him from focusing on just playing. Getting some points would help, but why not use the full arsenal to get his head back in the game.
I''m holding on to my prediction that he'll be a very good player, easily top six / 1st line quality.

Seems that whenever we are on 360 Cassie is doing colour. Other than that I have no idea.
I have been at the games so I haven't watched any of them, but I always wondered with her husband part of the organization if she goes out of her way to not favour the Flames. Which is kind of funny when you here other broadcasters that have history with teams.

From what I can tell Hrudy doesn't do Fri-Sun Games for the Flames unless they are close to Toronto for HNIC.

This is obviously the answer. Pretty much any game Friday to Sunday he probably will not be the colour guy.

For all the people that complained about Cassie, Rick Ball was not his usual sharp self last night either.
He called Stajan Tkachuk about 5 different times and said that Janko assisted on the Stone goal when that was Frolik who did.

Rick Ball is 2nd only to Doc Emerick in calling games IMO. Those mistakes are so minor they don't even count.
Cassie has useless commentary, and usually her analysis is vanilla or just wrong. Hrudey set the bar high for color commentary, and that's how it should be. We should accept Cassie as "good" because she's better than the bottom of the barrel Drew Remenda? No. She's bad and that is the truth.
Snet has lowered fan's expectations over the years and many of you have come to accept it. Demand higher quality broadcasts, analysts, panels and studios!!!

I was whipping thru the game on PVR last night but I didn't notice. One thing about him I admire - he has great eyesight. He can catch a deflection or similar nuance in the game really well. And I say "HTF did he see that?" after slo-mo proves him right.

It's such a nice juxtaposition to the last guy, whose catch phrase was "Where is it!?!?!"

Cassie talks way too much during the play. Her overuse of hockey lingo drives me nuts....melon, chicklets, biscuit, salad...ugh. It has nothing to do with her being female, she is Kevin Weekes bad.

There is absolutely 0% that i dislike Campbell's commentary because she is a woman. Her voice is terrible but it's not as terrible as say Loubardias. His voice is like what Seinfeld said, Elmer Fudd sitting on a juicer haha!
She has these crazy long awkward pauses and a few times it made Ball sound uncomfortable. Also her 'analysis' does nothing for the game. I'm sure she knows a lot about hockey but it's not shown with the words coming out of her mouth. Maybe she's nervous. Who knows. But she isn't very good. Right up there with Charlie Simmer and Kevin Weekes.
The best colour guy the Flames ever had? Mike Rogers! god i miss Mike Rogers. Him and Maher calling that 2004 playoff run was definitely a top 10 Flames favorite memory for me.

Someone should email him that you can't get kicked out of the circle after an icing. He was dumbfounded a few times, and Cassie didn't even correct him. No big deal though, still enjoy the calls

Hahaha, I actually just heard Kerr scream that in my head when I read your post.
"Wacking, wacking, wacking!" and "The cannon went off!" are also a couple of my favs.
After suffering through Millions, Lubo and Kerr on TV and now Wills on the radio I will never ever complain about Rick Ball. We are lucky to have him.

Doug Barkley and Mike Rogers were both pretty great.
I think the biggest problem with Campbell is that she's too dull for someone who supposed to be adding entertainment to the broadcast. The only color she adds to the game is beige. She's Charlie Simmer 2.0.

I think it's because previously the defenseman would be able to be taking slashes at the guy to throw him off or slow him down. Now they can't do anything close to that, they are trying to get the puck off them clean. When that fails, it's usually some sort of impedence that occurs (by accident or intentionally).
Bartkowski yesterday was really unlucky when you look at it. He took almost the perfect angle, given the other guy had a head start. The forward took a half step toward the middle of the ice and bumped Bartkowskis shoulder who wasn't expecting that move inside and clipped him. It wasn't as clear a breakaway either, and well could've been a minor instead.

I like Hrudey and Ball. Wills and Lou are even better imo. But I also do not mind Cassie to be honest. Better then Simmer, Millions or Kerr. I miss Peter Maher though

Agree.
Simmer was better with Roger and Loubo, but his time with Kerr meant he had to talk more to cover for the woefully overwhelmed Kerr, and Simmer wasn't used to having to carry a bigger load. Thus he reverted to cliches more than a guy who played as long and and the level he did in the NHL, should. That was a bad bad stretch of TV watching those couple seasons.
Campbell doesn't have those NHL credentials to fall back on as far as experience, so some of what she says sometimes rings hollow to me.
