I'm not sure how much merit there is to the suggestion, but to say its an entirely CP created rumour isn't true.
From that very article:
Quote:
Dougie landed in Calgary at the draft, and this month the Flames acquired Freddie in a trade. GM Brad Treliving, when asked about the rumour, said the Flames actually tried to make a deal for Freddie at the March trade deadline, and said he’d never heard the rumour before.
That article was written Dougie's very first month as a Flame. Looks like the Flames actually tried to acquire Freddie the season prior.
I don't doubt the Hamilton's were extremely happy to play together. But I still find it ridiculous that some people actually believe that one of Dougie's stipulations to signing here was that Freddie HAD to be here.
And rumors are just that: rumors. More often than not they are bunk and fabricated by the very people who are looking to create something to talk about.

Wasn't Freddie signed a 1-way contract? So he is still going to get NHL money regardless where he plays? I think the Flames did as much as they can to give Freddie as much NHL time as possible the past couple of years...
And of course Dougie will have to be professional about this decision. It's not like he will refuse to play or deliberately put pucks in his own net....

Gulutzan on Freddie Hamilton, "He needs to play" bottom line. Brother Dougie may not be too pleased but that's the life of a pro #Flames
Just pointing out its not a CP manufactured theory.
There are so many people that have insinuated this to be true that it almost has to be true. There is nothing to be gained from it so I am inclined to buy into it.

I have heard from a reliable source that this is essentially true. It's odd that you seem to be getting so worked up about it too.
Why? He's just fine warming a seat in the press box.
I think to remove the temptation for gg to go to him if/when kulak makes a misstep.
Frustrated by their decision making process and the fact that glass is still in the lineup, but happy to hear they finally made room for their best player in camp.
Might be something to Freddie being here to give his brother some comfort and familiarity but like most stories in the hockey world it's way overblown. Freddie Hamilton was in Calgary during the 2015-2016 season for a huge four games, compared to 62 in the AHL. Depends on what happens this year, though it looks like he's getting sent down, he will spend most of his three seasons here in the minors.

Social analysis from across the restaurant? Then conclusions jumped to?
Well, for the record it was a bar and for how many hours they were there for, don't remember seeing Dougie say a single word. Was mostly just on his phone while everyone else was conversing. It certainly gave some validity to the whole 'loner' label the Bruins gave him in that article they wrote. Not saying it's a big deal or not that he prefers to have his brother around, just saying I hope his game isn't negatively affected by losing his brother/roommate for the time being.
Tanner Glass took Jankowski's spot on the roster, while Sam Bennett took his spot in the line-up at centre. And this despite Jankowski being a stand-out in the pre-season.
Jankowski should have been with the big club all-along. In this respect, I consider the organization's stubborn refusal to move Bennett back to the wing to be the cause both of Jankowski's unnecessary demotion and Glass's unnecessary signing.
Jagr was signed before final cuts, but they kept Hathaway for one game until Jagr was made official. Doesn't change the fact that Jagr was brought in to be a top 9 forward which made Jankowski expendable.
