With the amount of talent he has I think the problem is he's not 'trying'. He has regressed every single year in the AHL. His track record shows that he's not a hard worker and his heart really isn't in hockey, perhaps he should retire and find something he actually wants to do.

Let this be a lesson for all the young prospects out there. If your name isn't Eric Lindros, don't pull a power move like this dummy did. Erixon relegated himself to "another team's prospect" status and never got the development and attention a young prospect needs.

No, you're wrong. **** this guy forever for the stunt he pulled.

Tom Erixon is a snake and I hope someone runs over his foot on the way to Europe.

JEsus talk about ex-girlfriends that can’t get over the guy that dumped her.

Can you explain how, out of curiosity for those of us who don’t really know?

Lied about his intention to sign right up until the 11th hour, and made it pretty well-known that he'd only go to one team in particular. I ain't mad that he essentially requested a trade (in fact the return was quite good, given the circumstances), I'm mad that he did it in the most underhanded way possible and held the organization hostage to get his way. There are few feelings as satisfying as seeing someone like that fall flat on their face when their heavy-handed power tactics backfire on them.

A minor prospect that amounted to nothing. At this point it's not even worth caring about.

With your growing reputation for veiled disparagement of CP and it’s users you are not long for this forum.

I wonder if stories like Tom will start instilling a bit more loyalty to the teams that took a chance on them.

Tom was a kid we drafted in 2009 and was considered one of our top D prospects.

However, he thought it'd be pretty neat to be a Ranger and handcuffed Feaster with a refusal to play for Calgary -- or any other team not the Rangers for that matter.

Feaster pulled off a pretty great trade, getting Roman Horak and two second round picks (to become Granlund and Wotherspoon) before losing his rights.

It has since been entertaining watching the self-righteous jerk bounce around from the Rangers (managed 18GP on his super special team), AHL, Columbus, back to the AHL, Chicago, the Leafs, tried the Devils and now the AHL is done with him. It's tasty.

You really don't know? Find that extremely hard to believe.

Meh, the guy was going to bust anyways even if he stuck around. They way he went about it sucked, but he did the team a favor and Feaster actually got a decent return (at the time) for a Flames team lacking organizational depth.

I'm glad he left. In the long run the Flames did better.

I knew bits and pieces, but from what I knew it was closer to “requested a trade.”

Definitely didn’t know he only wanted to go to the Rangers or did it at the 11th hour or anything like that. The hate makes way more sense now.

Why would you not believe him, and why would you even bother pointing that out?

First, Karma doesn't work that way.

Second, he really doesn't need a white knight.

Third, F Tom Erixon.

I've moved on past Tom. I don't even take much if any pleasure that his career is a dumpster fire. At the end of the day he did the Flames a favor as the Flames ended up with a return of players that were better than him in Granlund (who netted a 2nd round pick) and Wotherspoon has at least been an NHL warm body and solid AHL contributor. Had he signed with the Flames he would have simply busted.

A but would he?

I love these alternate reality type questions. There is no perfect laboratory to test this, but what if he signed with Calgary and earned his stripes slowly on a pretty poor team at the time?

Maybe he gets an 80 game season to iron out the adjustment period to the NHL instead of fits and starts of 15 games and never finding his hold.

Agreed with Bingo.

In 2009 he was pencilled in to be in the top 6 (with Pardy taking the 7 spot). But his dad was a Ranger and he pulled these shenanigans literally with mere days to go before the deadline.

Feaster got a great return under the circumstances. My favorite quote from the entire ordeal was when Feaster said something to the extent of "I know that coach over there pretty well (Tortorella) and if a young player thinks he is entitled to a spot in camp it won't go so well for him"

but make no mistake, he and his dad thought they were the smartest people in the room and orchestrated this.
