I hate cheering for the Leafs. Stars v. Canucks - Stars are tight with Calgary for the wild card now. Whereas I think the Canucks will fall no matter what. So do I cheer for the Stars because the Canucks are head right now, plus they're the Canucks, or for Vancouver because the Stars are IMO the bigger long term threat?

Definitely the Stars, we can worry about them later. We need to kick Vancouver out of the 3rd spot.

Very impressed with what Gallant is doing with Vegas, they attack the net like crazy and play fast.

Only if they are playing the oilers, and maybe the Canucks, would I ever cheer for the leafs.
The freak outs after a loss or too are well worth it over here.

Coyotes are leading the Flyers 2-1 late in the 1st period...Is tonight the night they record their first win?

Well, they were up 2-0 so they aren't trending the right way, lol.

The party will be coming to an end very soon though, I suspect.
So far, they have played ARI twice, BUF, COL, and DET (yes, they have beaten STL and CHI as well).
They have spent exactly 1 night on the road this season, and it was the first night of the season. Tonight is the first night they will spend on the road since Oct 6th.
Not only have they been at home all year, but they have also played the fewest games, meaning they have had the most practice time of any team in the league. In October, for a new team, that is invaluable.
Now, they are on the road for 6, and 8 of 9. After tonight, they have NYR, BOS, OTT, TOR and MTL.
I would bet that they are on the outside of the playoff picture by the end of November.
(great story though, and sorry to be a Debbie Downer)

Welp, I think I'm already done with this Panthers game. Lightning are up 3-1 15 minutes into the game. Florida does not look like they can hang with them.
Tampa Bay looks like they're for real this year.

Looking at the standings if they win tonight (they are leading 2-1 as I type this) they probably have to only win 5-6 games in November to likely still be in the playoffs by the end of November. They have games at hand on everyone except the Wild.

Gotta wonder how long Stamkos-Kucherov can keep up their pace. One (or both) of them might break Thornton's post lockout scoring record of 125 points.

Flames schedule sucks, I have to wait until Thursday for the next game? So uneven, no wonder this team keeps slipping back into bad habits.

Cali might want to put the Panthers game back on. 3-3 now, Barkov with a goal and two assists.

Goddam you. You gave me hope.
6-3 Tampa Bay after 2. Reimer pulled in favor of Niemi (bleh).

Oilers have had similar breaks. It would be nice if the league could spread the games out better but the scheduling is pretty complex. I don't think a few days of practice time after a win is necessarily a bad thing.

Philly is in for the season long struggle of watching Brian Elliott try to reach a .900 sv%.
.885 coming into this game, and .897 tonight with only a couple minutes left.
