Right now Spacey is toxic, it sounds like his movie about Gore Vidal is now on the chopping block.

He made a real miscalculation in his statement, and it didn't help him at all and it pissed off more then one community.

I don't believe it was a one and done incident with Rapp. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other individuals.

That is just my opinion.

We don't know yet, but the whole thing now is about circling the wagon, and his legal team and management team are probably making sure that nothing else comes up, and if there is they're job is to keep it quiet.

Hollywood is really fickle in terms of supporting its actors and power brokers, but that only goes so far when you blow damage control.

And this thing is blown damage control, whether its one incident of many, the first thing that they'll do is get Spacey away from the spotlight and hope this blows over, but Hollywood has dramatically shifted in the last few weeks and it pretty much like the bear with its leg in a trap. its willing to eat a few legs to get free of it.

If you believe in the whole line "It goes to behavior", if he behaved one way once he's done it before and again and not been caught.

More often or not a thief doesn't get caught the first time he steals. But we only know of the one theft until more accusers come forward.

Interesting... I wonder if they know anything beyond the Rapp/Spacey comments. Technically Spacey has admitted to no wrong-doing, and there's no evidence publicly that he's guilty of this accusation other than Rapp's comments. Seems like his corporate conviction took minutes to come down.

I don't think it mattered what he said or didn't say in his statement. No matter how he approached it, he was going to offend people.

Its the sign of the times. Distance yourself from somebody who has bad publicity for their wrongdoings and distance yourself yesterday!

Companies don't want to be associated with a man who made sexual advances towards a 14 year old. I don't think any statement would have helped him here....

Celebrities live and die in the court of public opinion. Right now Spacey has been branded as a pedo by another high profile actor, so I would say it's going to be a long, long time before he finds work again.

This whole thing is really f'd up. Roman Polanski was one of the first guys that got nailed for it, and you never heard much about it other than Michael Jackson allegations, and then what the 2 Corey's were saying. Polanski had high profile actors DEFENDING him for f sake.

It's disgusting if what Feldman is saying is true, and I hope they drain the swamp if it is.

So, hundreds of people working on that show just lost their jobs because of an unproven accusation against a leading actor. This is getting insane. Shouldn't these public accusations be declared unlawful? Anyone unhappy about anything in their life can nowadays freely make an accusation against anyone they've encountered privately and face no meaningful legal consequences. In Gomeshi case, it's been proven that the two women conspired to bring him down for selfish and spiteful reasons; yet, his career and finances have been ruined, while the accusers are portrayed as heroes in the media. In Weinstein case, what prevents any woman that had a private encounter with him under any circumstances to put forward an accusation and look for monetary settlement without any fear of legal repercussions/costs? In both cases, the unpleasant and unlikable male characters make the public believe the accusers easily and savour the revenge. Absolutely, if the assault happened, victims should have no hesitations in suing and predators should be punished. But sentencing the accused to a public opinion court before the real court of law finds them guilty is wrong on every level.

Are people purposely ignoring the openly frivolous attitude towards sexual behaviour in the entertainment world? How long until groupies start coming forward with "I didn't really want to have sex with that guy when I came to the orgy party in his hotel room at 3 am"?

False accusations happen only very rarely. I'm willing to risk that in favour of an environment where more people come forward than less. Gomeshi isn't totally innocent and frankly got about exactly what he deserved. If you can find a truly innocent person who's life was ruined by a false accusation I'll show you a few 100k victims who never got their chance at justice.

Well...

This is a smoke/fire situation and I think it's going to get a lot worse. I suspect Netflix (or people there) have heard enough innuendo and know where this is going.

If you look at Feldman's imdb listings he was still prevalent in movies and TV in 1993 when he started going public, after that a combination of probably Hollywood blacklistings and his drug problems really crushed his opportunities and he bounced from crap to crap, he went from being pretty much a teenage heart throb and a well paid at least B list actor right into the toilet.

I can just see the hollywood execs sitting around a darkened table

Exec one - "That Corey Feldman is talking about Haim being raped and sodomized again, and he's also throwing out accusations that he was molested.

Exec two - "Are these allegations true master?"

Exec one - "Of course they are, its a hollywood tradition, you want to be in our movies, you have to play the game"

Exec two - "So now what do we do my lord"

Exec one - "What we always do, we don't cast him in anything good, we crush him and eventually he'll look like a fringe failure of an actor desperate for attention and nobody will pay attention to him"

Exec two - "Excellent plan eminence"

Exec one pushes a button and a receptionist asks what he wants

Exec one - "Time to celebrate . . . Darlene why don't you bring in a 12 year old . . . "

Darlene - "Scotch sir"

Exec one - "No boy"

He hangs up the phone shaking his head

Exec one - "You just can't get good help these days"

Agree. My point is that we are throwing around the word sexual assault and it seems that a lot of the responses say this wasn't an assault because of the actions, but it was because of the age.

I think that was AFC's point, for which he is getting lambasted.

Well, apparently Netflix were leaning towards ending the show at that point anyway, but with the news today, they made that official.

We don't know. That's not my point. I remember a case of a woman accusing two guys of raping her in a hotel room in Banff. According to her, she had met them in a bar, had a good time and then went to sleep with one of them to their room, but then found the second guy having sex with her after the first one was done. According to the men, she had consented. The judge said something to the effect of: "clearly one of the parties is being untruthful, but this court has no way of determining which one". The guys were acquitted 100%. If they're honest, their life could have been ruined by the woman's accusation. If she was honest, then they didn't get the punishment they deserved.

The above example, for the most part, is the essence of many sexual assault cases, where a consensual private gathering had occurred in circumstances leading to a situation. But the court of public opinion to unproven allegations is not the right answer to resolve the legal shortcomings of prosecution.
