Default Bedlam on the West Coast

This is insane... I've never seen anything like this. 200,000 people without power in the lower mainland; trees toppled all over the Greater Vancouver region; streets turned to lakes on the island... absolutely nuts.

"Sorry Professor, I couldn't get to school for the midterm this morning, as there was a tree that fell 5 feet from my car blocking the roadway."

- my email sent this morning.

Its a mess alright. Supposed to get part 2 later this week. I parked my car exactly where the tree fell this morning....take THAT murphy's law!

Sorry for this but what happened? I'm in New York and haven't looked at the news in a few days.

This is my second day without my satellite TV. Didn't see anything wrong with it when I was up on my garage roof nailing down the roofing that was peeled off. The Straight of Georgia, out my window, looks pretty wild but no flooding here.

Winds were bad enuf here. I live in the Priddis area. Our power was off from around 5 pm till midnite. I too am on satellite and never got service back till now, it was off almost 24 hours.

Trees are down here, you know, the old tall aspen type. Always some that go down with the type of big chinook wind we had last nite.

I lost power for about 15 hours but consider myself lucky when people have trees hit their houses or cant even drink their water

Every time a front blows through here, the next day, I hear about it hitting Calgarypuck.
