Francis: The Project Line takes shape for Flames

Summoned Sunday from Stockton where he was one of the AHL’s hottest players, Mark Jankowski joined the Flames Monday with the perfect assignment: inject life and hope into a third line that has been dormant this season.
Mercifully bumping Sam Bennett to the left wing, Jankowski will have Curtis Lazar on the right, forming a line of the organization’s biggest projects.
Lazar is a 22-year-old reclamation project acquired from the Ottawa Senators, Bennett is a 21-year-old whose struggles from last year continue and Jankowski is the 23-year-old elder statesman from college who has been scrutinized since 2012 when he was the highest drafted Canadian high school player ever (21st).

Tough crowd.
Lazar the only one labeled as reclamation, which he is. The other two as projects, which I'd say they are.

I do remember whomever covered Jankowskis draft (I think TSN) did refer to Jankowski as a "project" when he was drafted... Someone who needed some time to develop and wasn't one who could jump right into the lineup. No use of the word "reclamation" though.

As for the name of the line, it's got 3 centers on it, so I propose the "3C line". May they never need to use a winger to take a draw.

I guess it is tough to consider Bennett a "project" but I think he's gone from prospect to player but has fallen out of graces a little and I'd consider him a project too.

Janko is a prospect at this point though so Francis can STFU lol

I've been bagging on Bennett as much as anyone, but I did think that he and Lazar looked better against the Wild. Put him on the wing with Janko (and switch them up if it isn't working) seems to be a good way to go. That should be a fun line.

Jankowski was a long term project when drafted though and it's paying off.
