Jeebus. IMO that wasn't on Smith. It was on the guys not getting in position for a pass and standing still.

I will gladly take the odd heart attack-inducing moment like that in return for the awesome goaltending he’s provided this far this year.

Not a bad period. It's been a goalie battle so far.

He's unlikely to change his style now, probably shouldn't either.

I would be just guessing but I assume they would maybe push Bennett out to LW to cover Versteeg and see what Jankowski can do at center.

No way. I’ll take the occasional heart attack in a trade for his excellent play with the puck. Helps the D immensely.

pretty much every line has gotten hemmed in their own zone for extended periods of time. if they don't fix that it's not going to go well

Monahan is a pretty damn one dimensional center that's going to be relied on to dig his line out of the defensive zone.

Smith playing the puck helps 90% of the time and is obviously what the team wants. Don't be that guy who brings it up Everytime it goes the other way.

By my count Smith has cost the team 1 goal by his puck playing abilities. I forget which game but he tried to clear the puck and it got stopped at the blue line then cycled back in.

It's hard to say how many goals he has prevented by playing the puck because when it's successful it's an easy zone exit.
