I want to see them tighten up defensively. It's great that Smith has been playing so well but they need to get the shots against down. Like to see Lazar back in against his old club as well, not sure to to replace him with though.....Ferland maybe? He's been very quiet.

Unless something changes Karlsson is not expected to play tonight, he didn't make the trip to VAN and word is he isn't going to join the team in AB either.
Edit: NVM, Suave beat me to it.

Good, Karlsson scares the poop out of me.

If anyone was asking me, I would say they should start Lack tonight.
Lack needs to get a start under his belt soon, and it's best not to give him a division rival, despite the old team connection. The off chance that Vancouver lights him up will be detrimental to his confidence, especially in their barn.
If he loses to Ottawa, I don't think it would be as bad.

Definitely feeling confident about the game tonight. Flames should be feeling good but the players know they have to be better and it should start at home. No Karlsson, Jagr home debut, Friday night Dome the Flames should take this game

personally I hope it's Smith today and Lack tomorrow. Ottawa's easily a better team than Vancouver and Lack will surely be fired up tomorrow.
4-2 today. Jagr and Bennett get their first of the season.

Let's be realistic here. It's the Vancouver Canucks. They of seven goals in three games, and having been outshot by an average of 4, all while on home ice. The Canucks are not lighting up anyone.

I want to see two things this game:
1. Keep the shots against under 30 if possible.
2. Continued growth in the chemistry on the Bennett, Versteeg, Jagr line. If they can continue to build there possession game the Flames are going to be in great shape this year.
Excited for the response to Jagr at the dome! Go Flames go!

They are playing on home ice. I will be shocked to see them surrender +30 shots against.

With the change of what is counted as a shot I wonder if keeping them under 33-35 is the new 30.
I know it is early, but looking at shots per game last year to this year, 12 teams finished last season less than 30 shots against a game. At this point this year there are 6 below that 30 threshold.

Shot counts are way up around the league. It shouldn't alarm anyone to see the Flames give up more than 30 shots tonight.
Now if they give up over 40 again, we can talk about why that is concerning. However, if they keep the high danger shots under 10, I'm happy.

I would normally say start Smith in the second game (on the road); however the Sens are averaging 37 shots per game whereas the Nucks are at third last at 29 shots. On that basis, I start Smith tonight and Lack can play his old team tomorrow.
GFG!

I think the Flames have this one in the bag, 4-2 with the classic "Deee-yooonnn" chant mixed in with a bunch of "Jagr!"'s.
Would to love to see a complete game from the Flames, end-to-end, so I can just sit back and enjoy the game.
GO FLAMES GO!

I'm going on a first date tonight with a girl I matched with online. Before setting a time, I checked to see if there was a Calgary game on. There is, so we are meeting up after the game around 9pm (I'm out in Vancouver). Hockey first! Go Flames!

Good teams put their backups against the weaker teams. Smith should start tonight and Lack tomorrow. Kulak probably gets into one of these games as well.
