Help, save, whatever.

What I would really love to see for at least 10 games is putting him with Tkachuk. They could play with Versteeg, Ferland or Jagr. I want to see those 2 build something together. The Flames have Monahan and Gaudreau and the moment we drafted Tkachuk I figured he would be paired with Bennett. They both play an in your face style and get under the opponents skin.

Too high expectaaaattiiooonnsss
Quoted wrong guy. Meant to quote person who said would only trade for eichel or MacKinnon.

William Nylander but Toronto says no and I'm just fine with Sam freaking Bennett.

I would trade Bennet for a more established centre, someone like Will Nylander would be a good fit.

He'd almost surely fit better with Monahan & Gaudreau than Ferland does.

Because the thread is what would you trade Bennett for , not should he play 1st line RW

His value is low right now so I don't think you would get back something worthwhile to actually make the deal. You're much better off letting him develop and hoping he can reach his potential. I'm open to trading him I just don't think the return would make sense to do so.

Not much appetite for trading this kid. One of the most unique complete packages of any center in the league.
I wouldn't trade him for anyone over 23 or any winger.
|
Come on. It's a fair question. Every single player on this team is tradeable. And calling Bennett one of the most complete packages in the league?
I don't advocate trading Bennett for the sake of change but there must be 30 players in the league over 23 who would give you more value than Bennett. Maybe far more than that. In the Flames alone, I'm trading him for Gaudreau, Hamilton and probably Brodie and Backlund.

I mean I like Sam Bennett but I don't think it's fair to put him at this level until he starts producing on the scoreboard.

Bennett has dropped off a bit since the games started to matter. Gotta take that next step soon. If he can't do it with Jagr flanking him, then not sure when it'll happen.

lol, this certainly says something about our depth on the wings. “If he can’t do it with a 45 year old player added after the start of the season, well then clearly Bennett sucks!”

Actually when the games matter is when Bennett plays his best hockey. Bennett in the 15 & 17 playoffs was fantastic. That being said, to answer the original question for fun it would be a deal for a cost controlled age equivalent centre with no additional picks or prospects going back.

People are sure high for a guy who has a career high of 36 points, a mere 3 more than Yakupov

Would just be better off moving him to wing and Janko to 3rd line C.
I really think Bennett's offensive game will take off on the wing and feel he's more suited to play wing than C at the NHL level.
This could also open up moving Tkachuk to the right side where he played and thrived in junior with 2 players very similar to Gaudreau and Monahan in Marner and Dvorak.
Would give the Flames a really deep and dangerous forward group.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland/Versteeg - Janko - Jagr
Ferland/Versteeg - Stajan - Lazar/Brouwer

I would trade him for Duchene and slot Janko on the third line with Jagr.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Duchene
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Jankowski - Jagr
