Monahan has 8 OT Goals in 323 career games. The next lowest games played amongst players with at least 8 OT goals is Max Pacioretty with 566 games played.
John Tavares has the fewest Career games amongst players with at least 9 OT goals - with 591.
Evgeni Malkin has the fewest career games amongst players with 10 OT goals, having played 710 games. Crosby is the only other player with 10 OT goals and less than 800 career games.
No player in the NHL that has played less than Monahan’s 323 games has more than 4 Career OT goals - Gaudreau being one of the 7 players with 4
Tarasenko is the only player in Monahan’s ballpark - with 7 OT goals in 345 Career games.

Last night the Leafs fired 50 SOG; the Canadiens 41 against Chicago the night before; in their only home game Calgary outshot Winnipeg 45-29. Yeah, it’s presently an issue, but I’m not terribly worried about it.
It's a little bit concerning but I trust the coaching staff to tighten things up in the coming weeks. Important to note that it's not like they were heavily out shot last night. They gave up over 40 shots but they also put 37 shots on net. I would be a lot more concerned if they were out shot by a large margin

It's nice that Flames have started with some w's on the road but those are still a lot of shots. Especially in LA. Right now, it seems they need to avoid the stretches of putrid play where they just get owned.
Point is, glad we are discussing this while they have a winning record.
I guess I'm in the minority too. I thought the Brouwer play was pretty bad.
Yes, he stuck up for a teammate, I get that, good for him. But it was a tie game late in the game and the play he responded to wasn't really that bad. And the call for a Flames PP was already made. I just wasn't a fan. It's great the Flames won in OT so we can look back on what a character play that was but I'm still not a fan. In the first period? Sure. In a blowout game? Sure. In a tie game late in the 3rd?.....not a fan.
For the record, I really, really liked Brouwer's game tonight. I thought in his role he was great. That one play, at that point of the game, I just wasn't a fan. Just my 2 cents.

I'd need to see a replay, but is it 100% that Brouwer even knew there was a call against Brown coming?
Anyway, going into OT it would have made it 4 on 3 instead of 3 on 3. Frankly, OT power plays have never seemed as effective for the Flames as just 3 on 3. Maybe they don't practice it much, compared to to 3 on 3.

Setting the tone for the rest of the team early in the season. Someone cheapshots a star or the Captain, you make the offender know it's not OK. Hard.
Loved that scrum with Bennett and Tkachuk too where neither of them held back.
I agree that Smith faced too many shots. That said, keep in mind this was the LA Kings' shot counter, who is notoriously homerish. He had the shots 15-13 for LA in the first that was dominated by Calgary.
I do think the Kings had too many close in chances and multiple whacks at the puck, which wasn't the case in Anaheim.

On those nights and the "off" nights you tune into other game and get confronted with Tkachuk and Ehlers/Nylander. How much better is this team NOW AND IN THE FUTURE with those picks? It's frightening how far back the rebuild process has been set back because of it (if it is indeed a rebuild is going on...I don't believe it is).
It's one thing to maybe pass on a better player if you picked up something comparable in the process...Benning didn't. They appear to be straight up misses at a time they could not be permitted to miss.

Like many, i've been hard on Brouwer, but he has played really well the last few games. If he keeps this up, there is no reason to make a bad trade to get rid of the contract.
Also, how can there still be people complaining about Glass? He might be the best enforcer this franchise has ever had in terms of hockey ability. He makes smart decisions with the puck, he finishes his checks, he fights very well for his size. The most impressive thing is his puck protection and board battles; you can see how this guy played 20 games for Alain Vigneault in the 2011 Canucks run. He just makes really smart plays out there and doesn't just blindly turn the puck over. He's even useful on the PK and all for minimum wage. I mean against softer opponents, I don't want to see Glass in the lineup over a guy like Lazar, but Glass has been very good.

Watching that, Brouwer's eyes were on Brown, and he might not have seen the ref (even as close as he was). Or he might have thought Brown would fight back a bit, in which case Brown gets 4 and Brouwer gets 2. Or he didn't care and wanted to punish Brown anyway. I'm OK with all 3.

I agree, Glass has been pretty solid.
We're at the point where we have a decent stacked roster, where you cannot fail to lose your spot. In my opinion, Lazar did not deserve to sit but that is what happened since we needed a spot for Jagr. Now, we look for the odd man out who didn't play a good game and have him sit. With that being said, Ferland should be the one that sits next game. I think sitting out a game will help him realize that he needs to bring a lot more to the table than what he is doing right now.
