I don’t mind Bieksa trying to keep the puck at the end of the game. He truly hates us and I love it. It’s what makes the games against Anaheim always a playoff atmosphere. I love to hate him as much as the next guy but he’s made a career for himself getting under other teams skins while not being the most skilled. I find that semi admirable. And I can guarantee you all that if he started as a Flame with his career he’d be revered and loved by the fans here. Anyways it made my blood boil at the moment but I got a good chuckle after and it’s the kind of thing that keeps the spark between these two teams going.

No. No, you cannot make any such guarantee. Kevin Bieksa is garbage. That is all.

I wouldn't like that move by a Flame at all. It's low class and petty. I wouldn't have thought even he would try it. The only thing I can think of is that he forgot it was a shutout for Smith and thought they were trying to get the puck because it was the curse-buster.

I really like his compete level and his puck handling skills are as advertised. I am excited to see the transition game continue to improve as the players adjust to this style.

Even at his best, Elliott was a visually leaky goalie.
Smith has been everything you could hope for.

I would have hated him even if he had started as a Flame or ever became one. It is like when Marchment or Bertuzzi were here, it made me want to vomit. There is a huge difference between being a pest (Tkachuk) and genuinely being a complete d-bag (Beiksa, Kesler, Burrows).

I'm a little surprised at the discussion around Bieksa and the puck incident. I hate that guy more than any player in the NHL, actually Perry is right up there but he's at least a good player. Regardless, these players are needed on teams and need to do shyt like that to piss off the other teams and get them off their game.
When Tkachuk got under Getzlaf's skin last night, that was fricken awesome. If Tkachuk played keep away with a puck from Perry or Bieksa, I would cheer that on and be all for it, happy we had a ###### bag on our side for once.
I can't believe the butt hurt over this. Not to mention, Bieksa actually gave the puck up in the end. I have no doubt he's just being his douchy self. Irritating and getting players hating you for the next game. That's a strategy. I have no problem if Tkachuk would plan ahead and do something to get under them. It's that much easier to punch them in the face later in the season or in the playoffs and take a stupid penalty.
It was awesome seeing us get to them finally and actually thought, man we are fortunate that Vancouver passed him up. Smith staying away from Perry's shyt and Getzlaf losing his cool over Tkachuk. Awesome, the tables are truly turning.
By no means am I backing Bieksa, however I get it. This happens a lot too. Wasn't there a missing puck incident in the playoffs one year? I also recall something later on after that too where the puck went missing. These guys try to get under the opponents skin all the time.
Off topic, a buddy this summer told me he played hockey with Bieksa back in the day and Bieksa was one of the most stand up teammate he ever had. He would go through a wall for any player on his team and was a great off ice teammate. I wouldn't believe it, and hate that this could be true.

Fact is he wasn't good last night, seeing eye test and stats in all.

Well, I don't know about the rest but the only reason he had no hits on his stat line was because it was in Anaheim. Bennett definitely had multiple hits, I remember rewinding a couple of them.

Uh-huh, what's more likely...
A: Kevin Bieska is playing some kind of 8th dimensional chess where he is purposefully trying to gain an edge 80 days from now by stealing the game puck, or
B: Kevin Bieska is an arsehole who just wanted to take something away from someone out of spite
... Imma gonna go ahead and mark my answer as "B".

This 100x.
I remember watching Elliott make a save on a wrap around or a puck thrown at his feet from a bad angle during the season last year, and cringing at how much of the net was exposed in his form. The Ducks must have seen it too, as I've never seen a goalie more exploited in a playoff series in my life.
Smith by sheer size looks FAR less leaky, and his demeanor in the net just oozes confidence.
I think this is the real deal, although I'd like to see us cut down the shots against to keep him fresh.

I can't decide whether the Anaheim foggoal horn or the Oilers hilariously shrill goal horn is the worst.

I dont care if its the rose colored glasses I'm wearing for Jagr, You can already see a massive improvement with the puck protection the young players are having. Bennett, Tkachuk both look extremely stronger holding onto the puck.

Stajan had a lot to do with it looking at the video (and maybe the fact that it was Tkachuk looking for the puck initialy was the reason Bieksa was being a dick in the first place).

It's close but the fog horn takes the cake. The canucks' dying whale horn isn't far behind that pair too. Some nasty goal horns that match their gross teams in this division.

I still can't believe a slashing penalty wasn't called when Stajan got that breakaway. The highstick on Brouwer. The call on Tkachuk for allowing Perry to bulldoze his own goalie. A blantent tripping/interference when we were a man down at the end aswell. It was crazy how still 1 sided these calls were, just so happy the flames didn't let those calls beat them!
