Had to come back this morning and revel in the glory. The game didn't start until 1130pm here, so I fell asleep during the second break......
......but then woke up to see it 2-0 with three minutes to go. I thought I was dreaming! That slo-mo of Backlund's goal makes me cry happy tears.

Wooo!

And Mike Smith....

Agreed. He remains an enigma to me. That pass on the 2 on 0 was panicked and ugly.

His puck protection continues to be his strong suit but his decision making is still not good.

Bennett was buried in terms of zone starts last night AND he went 6 for 9 in the faceoff circle.

The negative analysis of him from last night is, outside of a bad pass, unwarranted. He may not have scored or produced points, but he had an impactful game.

Well that's fine for an energy forward, but people are hoping much more from him.

He's got the talent to produce, but it's still a question mark just how well he can put it together. That said I'm not too worried.

I think the linesman got the game puck for the Flames, didn't he?
I stayed up way past my usual bedtime because I didn't want to miss it when they finally beat these dicks in Anaheim. Well worth it.

So looked up the Flames most recent streaks in all other buildings and I'm happy to report there isn't a single other instance that is anywhere near this Honda Center debacle.
Toronto and MSG are both 5 game losing streaks as the max.

Almost the entire team including the 4th line had a corsi of over 50%. He had the worst and only % of under 30. 0 shots on goal, 0 hits. -11 SAT, also the worst on the team.
Fact is he wasn't good last night, seeing eye test and stats in all.

I find it alarming that he is unable to generate any sort of shot volume at this point. He is noticeable on the forecheck and defensively but just cannot get himself enough opportunities to produce. Hopefully Jagr will turn this around as he will most likely draw attention and be able to feed Sam some high quality passes.

Great team game the last 5 periods. Defensively strong, top line starting to look like a threat again. A pacific sweep of this mini trip would be a fantastic confidence booster.
