			1. draft a high risk, high reward player.2. Let him simmer for 6 years.
 3. Trade him just as he's NHL ready.
 4. ???????
 5. Profit

I can't find a logical situation where a team wouldn't pay more than $1mil in base salary to Jagr but still wants to take on even half of Brouwer's contract

Hey I wouldn't want it to happen either but Janko isn't picked by this current management group and who knows it could very well be a Brouwer Janko for Duchene type deal.

A Brouwer, Jankowski, and one of the D prospects for Duchene could be a possibility.

The point is there's no reason for you to think this let alone worry about it to the point of mentioning here.

At what point does Brower with 3 years left have value?
 2.5 million per-- Maybe
 2 million per -- Yes.

So if we need to give up 6 million dollars worth of bad cap back what does that cost?

That has to be one of our better prospects or taking a shorter cap hit back that we bury.

I suspect Brower, 1 million retained plus Kylington for a late pick

The value of Brouwer and Janko is likely not that much better than nothing.

 Zero chance Colorado does that.

IMO, trading Brouwer will involve including a good prospect (but not Janko), a pretty good retention of salary, or a bad contract back. Or some combo depending on the players involved.

But Calgary will save some money and move a player they don't really need.

Jagr's bonus will be easily attainable. That's just for cap flexibility at the deadline and throughout the year. So he will be paid 2 million.

That said I agree with you.

Yeah, there's definitely precedent under Brad Treliving for giving up a top level prospect for nothing. Almost inevitable at this point. |
