Like the incentive based contract, gives him some motivation to perform! With a base of a $1 million, a very good gamble by Treliviing!

Gets to camp and none of the young players look NHL ready, Brouwer is quicker, but still not ready to be an impact winger. Then he sees Bennett looks really ready and has to add to make sure another Bennett season isn't wasted.
Goes back to Jagr who still doesn't have an NHL home, and now the dollars make more sense to both sides.
You have to have a view and stick to it, don't sign players out of fear of not getting them .

Yeah, was pretty clear with his interview with McKenzie thet he was not confident with the potential production of the forward group before camp.
Jagr's price a month ago was likely double what he got now. Treliving though had done the research and also planted the seeds and shown legit interest in him to the Jagr camp back then, which meant that it was a lot easier for both sides to come back to when no one stood out on that right side at camp or preseason, and those scoring doubts still lingered.

Can confirm @FriedgeHNIC report. Jagr is signing with CGY. Source said he felt comfortable playing under Gulutzan in DAL, which was key.
|
In other words he would rather share a room with Gulutzan than Mike Yeo.

First time playing in Canada and his first true Western team. Once St Louis popped up I thought he'd end up there, similar softer travel schedule to Dallas. Very exciting.
Not expecting anything crazy, but 20-20 playing right side of Bennett is going to be huge.

Why not just throw my most hated Flame of all time Anders Eriksson in there while you're at it.

Why are we doing this after we just signed Jagr? This should be a good day!

The Flames should retire #68 at the end of the season.

I suspect Jagr might not have been super interested in taking part in a training camp. It's mostly a chance to get injured before a contract. This was a good option for him. I doubt anyone's worried about him not learning a new system, and at this point Treliving can probably tell him exactly the role and linemates they have planned for him.
As for why he chose to sign here, I would imagine our depth is one reason. Guaranteed solid linemates regardless of where in the top 9 he slots in. Add a coach Jagr likes and what's there not to like... except the travel of course.

That was quick. I'm guessing they didn't have many left to begin with.
I'm also guessing that 100% of them are going to be Jagr jerseys.

I think in the end this will be most positive for Jankowski.
First hand lesson in how to use a large frame to gain control and protect the puck.
Aside from the potential offensive contribution, this could be huge for Calgary.
