That could be the fourth line on opening night. Wouldn't be too out-of-this-world.

Gulutzan says there might be one change on D, though.

Really hope Lazar and Janko have strong games. Rather see Lazar than Hamilton on opening night.

At this point would anyone argue switching Brouwer for Lazar?

Lazar has done nothing to impress IMO. But with that said, he looks better than Brouwer but that bar is low. Very low.

No mention of the dirty hit in the last game by Trouba yet. It seems that people have already forgotten about it. I know it's pre-season, but I would love it if Ferland turned into Ferklund just for tonight so he can flatten Trouba a few times. The guy has it coming.

Lazar just needs to be bad to be an upgrade. See: Alex Chiasson.

I really don't understand GG. Bennett looked great with Gaudreau, Monahan looked good with Tkachuk, and Backlund and Frolik are always solid. it also gives us 3 solid, quality, balanced lines.
Gaudreau-Bennett-Ferland
Tkachuk-Monahan-Brouwer
Versteeg-Backlund-Frolik
Glass-Jankowski-Lazar

Giordano-Hamilton
Brodie-Hamonic
(anyone but Bartkowski)-Stone

While I understand the sentiment to get Brouwer away from Bennett, what you've done here with the lines (just as several others have suggested in the lineup thread) is equally perplexing.

Throwing the lines into a blender just days before the season opener is not in any way a good idea.

The top two lines have shown they're solid. They need game time to hit the ground running. Hopefully they got it out of their system last game and can move on from there.

In either case, I can't see any way how it's a good idea to shuffle everyone and make entirely new lines before game one. Seems like a recipe for a disastrous start again.

Gotta think Gazdic and Hathaway are done. Haven't played in days. Glass as good as signed if he's in the last game. And this is the perfect chance for Lazar as Jankowski has been great this pre season. If he has another great game and Lazar is competent they could both find their way into the lineup Wesnesday. Its not a high bar for that 4th line to clear.

I can't imagine this game has a lot of pace in it. I would expect to see the vets on both teams going thru motions, getting eased into things but also not putting themselves in harms way. In other words, should be boring AF

Looks like either Glass or Stajan might be the 13th. If Jankowski and/or Lazar look good, I wouldn't be surprised to see Stajan dealt at the deadline to a team needing C depth.
