Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Need to lose a contract from the roster though to save money / fit Duchene in don't they?

We are lacking speed and skill upfront and he brings both in spades.

Andersen is on the roster if one of Hamilton, Hamonic, or Stone get hurt. Fox might not even sign here.
This statement could be way off in a few months but as of today I rather move Fox than Andersen.

I don't think Andersson has much trade value. Definitely not a good enough prospect to be the main part of any trade for Duchene. The Flames would have to trade salary and they are not taking Stajan or Brouwer.
If I was the Avs I would be asking for Brodie or maybe Backlund assuming they could sign him to an extension. Bennett would be a reasonable ask as well.

At this point, I don't think we're getting Jagr.
We're definitely not getting Duchene.
This is the team we are going into Oct 4 with most likely, and that thought, makes me kinda sad. I really thought Treliving would had a forward to shake it up a bit this offseason.

I see Fox as a Gaudreau level d-prospect. He's doing things in college that haven't been done in decades. Plus Colorado wants more of an immediate addition to their blueline and Rasmus can play this season.

Not having a $4.5 million 4th-line forward, a $3.1 million 4th-line forward, or a $3.5 million third-pairing defenceman would be nice right about now.

Jaromir Jagr's agent tells me he's currently talking with three #NHL teams.

I don't disagree Fox could be amazing or could never play in the league. Andersen is certainly close to NHL ready but provides really solid depth for the Flames. I have a feeling Andersen could play half the season with the Flames as Hamonic and Stone have battled injuries recently.

Thing is, in a trade, especially for a marquee forward like Duchene, you have to give to get. You have to consider both sides of the deal. For the same reasons you just listed, Colorado would also prefer Andersson. Nobody wants to trade him, and he has had a very promising developmental curve since he's been drafted. I think for a deal for Duchene, one of Valimaki, Kylington or Andersson would have to be going back. Don't think Sakic wants to take a chance on a college FA potentially not signing there (like Will Butcher a few weeks ago) especially for his most valuable trade chip.
Andersson + Gillies + Salary (Stajan)?
Don't know if that's even enough but with the season less than a week away, the time is ticking for Sakic and he might be desperate enough to pull the trigger.

If the agent says three teams are interested, it likely means that one team has expressed a passing interest.

Sakic would hang up the phone. Andersson and Gillies both could easily bust or top out as a bottom pairing defenseman or a backup goalie. He would almost certainly have better trade offers right now.

I believe in the Jays.

I'd still love Jagr in Calgary... but I have a sneaking suspicion the NHL is going to allow Chicago to use LTIR on Hossa and he signs with them.

I proposed any D prospect+Gillies+Ferland and thought it was a fair offer so we tend to agree on value.
Not sure if the Avs would want the safer prospect in Andersen or the prospect with higher ceiling in Fox?
As others have said if that is all it would take Euchene would be somewhere else already.

If not for anything else, this needs to happen for Bennett's sanity.

I have a bridge in new York to sell you if you think sakic would trade former Olympian Matt duschene for 2 guys with like 3 games of NHL experience and 4th liner recently converted to mony+Jonny puck retriever Michael ferland

At the draft Duchesne could have been parlayed into two first round picks and two second round picks - doubt Sakic is going to top that now.

It's not like those offers are on the table anymore. He's losing leverage, not gaining it

They want somebody that can play this season, so Fox is off of the table.
