I raced with a buddy who is about 50lbs heavier than me and he destroyed me by 5 minutes. It definitely favours people with some weight. I just have to remind myself that in the real world I'd be much faster than him.
Zwift keeps track of it though and will DQ people who have drastic changes in their weight from race to race or who race outside of their w/kg class.
Another cool thing about Zwift is that they've opened up a lot of their data on an API so developers can have some fun with it too.
This site compiles all the data from races throughout the day. Here's the race I did. 3 people ended up being DQed from my race because they performed too outside of their class. They should have been in group C instead of D. So I ended up in 4th instead of 7th.

Sorry for the slight rant, but all this paving work in the city right now is a real PITA. Every route I take out of the NW seems to have some sort of paving. Home Road, the road beside the Foothills hospital, my own community. I don't remember ever seeing paving jobs start during the last week of September, but maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention.
Sidenote - am I guaranteed to eventually get a punture in my tire if I ride too much on the unpaved roadways?

as long as you keep your tires inflated properly, only bad luck will lead to a flat tire.

^ I would say that if you are riding an unpaved road on a bike with skinny tires, the chances of getting a flat increase - but for the most part you should be ok

KTrain,
Using the indoor trainer and such how does your garmin/wahoo and accessories (heart rate and cadence) connect? ANT+ capable.
Also I have seen guys on Strava with Zwift stats I assume that connects as well?
I am thinking I would connect all this with my android TV box which is connected to a decent TV in the basement. I would think that would work?
Thanks

When you're operating Zwift, the heart rate and cadence monitors can only be connected to it. At least that's the case with my Wahoo heart monitor. It can't be connected to two bluetooth devices at the same time. So I just connect it to Zwift because then the HR data is displayed on the screen along with the rest. It's then pushed to Strava when I finish the ride.
There is a ANT+ USB stick for laptops so you can connect to that as well. I use bluetooth though.
Zwift data can be pushed out to Strava automatically. All ride data can be downloaded as well so you can save the files and upload them to whatever ride tracking app you use.
They're currently testing a Zwift app for the AppleTV but if you can mirror you laptop or phone to your TV now you shouldn't have any problem displaying it there now.

It takes some getting used to for sure. It's made up of kind of light weight stuff: sleeping bag, sleeping mat, tent & fly and the heaviest one is probably the food bag. It probably looks heavier than it is. When I rode this way previously, I also had panniers on the back to distribute the weight better, but I wanted to trim down on the crap I was carrying.
I do need to start investing in some lighter/smaller camping stuff though. My sleeping bag is huge.
Wish I was heading out today! 25C, wow. I'm just hoping for no rain!

I'm playing hooky from work this morning. Pulling the road bike off the trainer and heading out to Priddis for a few hours. I can't see us getting back into the 20s this year so I might as well take advantage.

I had three close calls riding to work this morning. The one on south-bound 10th NW could have been bad had I been a bit slower or the car turning left a bit faster.
When the traffic backs up at rush hour, they leave a gap at the intersection for oncoming to turn left, but they can't see me in the bike lane until the last minute and I can't see them. I should have anticipated it, but I was hustling to make the green at 16th. I suppose going that little bit faster allowed me to clear the intersection, but I honestly thought I was going to be one of those statistics.

I also had my closest call of the year the other day as I was riding down a residential street not far from heritage and Fairmont drive. car is goiong somewhat slowly down middle of road, I am directly behind car and getting impatient, car pulls over to the right (I figure they were trying to park) and just as I start to pick up my cadence - the car suddenly does a U-turn. I slam on my brakes, and say whoa to the driver (their window was open), and I then remind the driver that the lever on the left operates the turn signal and it is a real treat to those of us behind the car when they are used correctly.
my spidey sense was tingling a bit before they made the U-turn. afterwards I thought it is funny how that works

That's a great point and as a driver I have to honestly say this is something I never even thought about before. But I will now, thanks for bringing the situation up. And in solid traffic a left turning driver may not even be aware there is a bike lane on the other side of all those vehicles.

They should have a no left turn sign for that during rush hour.

That certainly makes sense. I don't really fault the driver. There was no way she saw me until the very last minute and I didn't see her until she was turning into the intersection.
I find I have to be wary of the cars to my right coming from the cross streets and alleys as well on 10th St.

Not working this morning was the best decision I've made all year. I road the same route as the CP Group ride (the correct way this time). The weather was perfect and colours around Priddis were incredible.
