the 2017 draft kids arent exactly Calder locks this year. Janko could have a decent shot at it.

Agreed
Once gulatzon saddles Bennett with Brouwer for a few weeks and Bennett's numbers tank, let's be sure to remember what he can do with decent line mates

My impressions from the first two periods (echoed by many):
Jankowski looks like an NHLer, looks like he's on the team
JG was fast! Still not dangling like he used to, but I think he'll be sent on a few more breakaways this year with wheels like those.
Bennett looked great. I'm hesitant because he was playing with JG and it's easy to look great playing with amazing players and against poor competition. He also looked solid last preseason when many of us were anticipating a breakout season. Regardless, better to see him playing well than not.
Klimchuck was quieter but in general made good decisions.
Anderson looked good for the most part but made a couple of stupid plays that won't fly in the NHL. Looked his age, and even if only a handful of plays, might be cause enough to send him down.
Shinkaruk was fast but didn't seem to make much happen.
Hathaway was pleasantly skilled, I think he really showed a side to his game that I hadn't seen much of during regular season games.

The thing is Anderson's silly plays were WAY less costly than Bartkowski's numerous TERRIBLE plays.

Stand outs for all the right reasons:
Smith, Janko, Bennett and his new BF beard, Gaudreau who has added some tiny rockets to his skates, D.Hamilton, Hamonic and Brodie were jamming to a nice groove, Klimchuk showed a few solid glimpses of his talents, Spoon and Andersson pairing were a bright spot as well.
The mehs:
Shinkaruk, didnt seem to have it in him today.
Lazar.... gotta step up buddy, some kids are coming on fast.
Gio. First period aside, I didnt really think he had a great 3 periods
Whoever was with Janko, kid took the challenge of bleeding linemates and went on to earn some extra special teams time anyways.
