Loved Bennett on the second goal. He outmuscled someone on the boards to win the puck, threw it up top to Brodie and Ferland with the nice tip to finish it off. Bennett looks strong enough to handle the league this year.

Keep hoping for that. Didn't see that watching him in Arizona. If he breaks even, that will be an improvement over his time in Arizona. His puck handling is pretty overrated. He can clear the zone, but most teams are aware and just pound it back in. I never saw much of an advantage like it has been suggested.

Mike Smith puck handling abilities are a myth. Sure he can handle the puck but that's not always a good thing.

I used to love when we would play Smith because he was usually good for a few giveaways for a goal or some really good scoring chances.

I hope he stays in his net.

i feel like benny might be a really good fit with gaudreau/ferland - he has both johnnys affinity for making plays and ferlands ability to grind, so he compliments them. monhan is my fav flame right now but he just like stands there and gets automatic goals every time, i wonder if he could get brouwer going if they give benny time on the top line(not going to happen) because all brouwer has to do is feed it out front and it's in

again never going to happen, but cool to have that option available if anyone slumps

It could be that the Flames are still easing into form but early on the Coyotes were just faster to pucks.
Bennett had a good period to help Calgary move in front but late in the period the Coyotes were hungrier on pucks again.

Yes its meaningless preseason but they need to increase their tempo, win races and battles and allow a high work ethic to let their talent come through.
So far it seems they've believed the hype that they're going to have a great season and don't have to work hard.

Well, now we know why the Flames have walked away from the arena discussions... They took the person responsible for putting together arena presentations and reassigned him to running the live stream of preseason games.
