Ah, okay. So, is Kris hurt? He's not in either lineup then.

We all know there will be non legal links that out of market fans will find and obviously the NHL does not get it that they are actually promoting the illegal streams they are so opposed to by restricting a game that oot fans cannot access legally.
As recently as 2015 these split squad games were available on each team's site and I could watch them simultaneously. The NHL took over hosting all club sites (or so I am lead to believe) and now we have weird rules that clash with the league's own blackout policy during the regular season. My best guess as to why is that no ads are sold for these games and thus the NHL has no reason to broadcast them or make them available outside the host cities. But who knows.

I'm hoping someone with knowledge of these matters can clear this up because yeah, it sucks. And I get thats its one night and 2 meaningless games but still. I'd like to know why.

You are probably right about the no ads thing but that makes the NHL really dumb because as I said there are no shortage of "other sources". You would think they would put it on GCL to promote their product instead of indirectly promoting illegal streams.

Not sure but Jokinen and Benning aren't suiting up either.

Alberta, Saskatchewan and NWT are within the teams' blackout region

100% agree. They should leave well enough alone for games like this (or provide their own means of streaming the game like Gamecentre) instead of pushing fans away or outright making them search for alternate methods for viewing.

Exactly, which is why the rules tonight (if like last year, No Sask or NWT) clashes with the leagues own rules that they enforce during the regular season. Its weird.

It looks like you spelled 'invited' wrong. They did call, but we do have standards, that place is a dump.

Ridiculous that every single Canucks preseason game is a nationally televised HD game and the Flames have zero (outside of our 2 matchups with the Canucks)

Oilers website says their games are available in these areas. Remains to be seen (or not!) I guess

The Jets games should be on TSN3 too (or at least the game in Winnipeg). I'm not sure how they handle blackouts for those games. In the past, I've been able to watch them on the Centre Ice free preview.

As far as I'm concerned this is better, since I don't have cable.

One thing I really like about that away roster is that it will be very obvious who doesn't belong in the NHL. It will be fun to watch players trying to earn a longer look.

So they're sending their newly minted $68 million dollar man to play on the road in a split-squad game? Guess they're going to make him earn those bucks...

That's true. I remember when I had Shaw the TSN feed worked on centre ice as the free preview is on during the preseason. Last year when I was with Telus I was unable to watch the Jets feed

Fingers crossed! I'd love for this to be all about nothing and last year was a fluke. Here's hoping.

Looks like 4 lines of irritation to me
I'm really irritated by this 'Freddie and the facepunchers' line here because I think that line is going to irritate me for all the wrong reasons. Glass and Cramarossa should be no more than warm bodies this preseason and nowhere near any regular season big squad lineup.

If Tanner Glass & Joseph Cramarossa actually make the big club, then something stinks. Those two suck really bad at NHL hockey, especially Glass.
