I don't recall ever seeing that before where a ball comes out of a server's pocket during a rally (but I guess it happens often enough that there's a rule on the books for it).

Yes sir, it certainly is. Anderson isn't playing badly, he just can't make any inroads on Rafa's serve and has to work very hard to hold serve and it's just a matter of time before Rafa gets the break.

Rafa's return game has been incredible, Anderson is serving hard and not playing bad at all.

This win feels extra sweet not going to lie. I don't care about his weak draw or the injuries to Djoker, Murray, Wawa, Kei or Milos ; for now on you have to say Nadal is a 3 time winner of the US Open. What a crazy year for tennis. At the start I thought if Nadal played well he may win the French that's it. Then that devastating loss to Fed in Australia I thought he was done. Then to come back and dominate the clay season like this was 10 years ago simply amazing. Then the losses at Wimbledon, the Rogers Cup and Cincy, I thought it was a good run but Fed will be #1 at the end of the year. To reclaim the world #1 ,most likely end the year #1 and to win 2 grand slams all at 31! This may be the best season ever for a tennis player in there 30s ever! 16 grand slam titles I feel is enough a head of Djoker that he won't be caught and you have to wonder can he get to 19? Vamanos

Not over quite yet including an important Davis Cup tie in Edmonton next weekend and some big tourneys left on the calendar leading up to the ATP Tour Finals (and NextGen ATP Finals in Milan which Denis is likely to be a part of).

Nadals 3rd US Open moves him tied to 5th place on the all time list with Lendl, behind Sampras, Connors &Fed with 5 each and McEnroe who had 4. This is his 6th Grand Slam title off clay to give you some perspective Agassi won 7 grand slams off clay. Some big tournaments left but that 2018 Aussie Open will be interesting we might get something crazy like a Djoker Fed 4th round match.

Also huge congratulations to Uncle Toni the most successful player and coach combo since Billichick and Brady, and the most successful ever in Tennis. His last tournament as coach , Moya will take over in 2018.

Genie: Win a tournament, finish in the top 25. She just needs to build the confidence up again this year. Last year wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. She needs to get that arrow pointing up again though.
Vasek: Win another doubles major, stay healthy all year, finish in the top 50. Whether it's PopSock or with old man Nestor, winning another doubles major would be such a massive boost for him.
Denis: Qualify for a major, finish inside the top 150, win a challenger. And get everyone to fall in love with the one handed lefty backhand.
Felix: More challenger events, qualify for a major, finish inside the top 250. And get some buzz going in the tennis world about being the next big thing
Abanda: Win a challenger, qualify for multiple majors, finish inside the top 100. Saw some good things the second half of last year. Can she find the consistency?

So i went back and pulled up these expectations from Senator Clay Davis?
How About a report card as the year is winding down?
Milos: C
Genie: F
Vasek: D
Denis: A+
Felix: A
Francoise: C
Would give Brayden Schnur a B

I would also like to give some love to Gabriela Dabrowski for bringing home the French Open mixed doubles title with partner Rohan Bopanna (first Canadian woman to win a Grand Slam title). That alone grades out as an "A" in my book, but she also won the doubles title in Connecticut with partner Yifan Xu and had other solid tournaments this season both in doubles and mixed doubles.

I would pretty much agree with your grades. I cannot believe that I thought I was being unrealistic for both Denis and Felix and yet I was clearly being far more unrealistic about Genie and Vasek. Those youngins are gonna make setting goals for next year difficult, it seems insane to suggest Denis winning a major should be a goal, but then again maybe not.

To expect Rafa and Andy in two major finals just seems to me like it won't happen. Here are my wild predictions.
Aussie. Kyrios over Djokovic
French. Wawrinka over Nadal
Wimbledon. Murray over Fed
US Open. Milos over Fed

You never know could get an easy draw or injuries could happen. I would have bet all my money that Fedal wouldn't sweep the slams this year.
