Hey All.
Like many of you, I watch a decent amount of TV. Any of you have any little-known gems you'd care to share?
I've always had this soft-spot for this great Canadian show Traders. I think it only ran 3-4 seasons, but the acting was amazing.
Also, there's this fantastic cartoon on channel 38 every night (11pm?) called Home Movies. The animation is terrible (its done by the same guy as Dr. Katz I think) but the dialogue is pure hilarity.
And, because I'm a sci-fi geek, Babylon 5 was a lot better than a 'poor-man's startrek'... though that's essentially what it was. I'm tempted to give Andromeda a shot because its Gene Roddenberry, but the combination of Kevin Sorbo/Buffy-like aliens has driven me off.
Anyone have any cool but little known shows they'd like to show off?
Edit: oops, and Enterprise rules too... I think it will pull out Voyager-like ratings as it gets older (which isn't much.. but its something )

Yeah, I totally forgot about that show.
I recall that the Andy Richter show came out at the same time. That show was too funny, I can't believe they cancelled it, especially seeing as now he's in a lame family-style sitcom.

Yup, if the humour is too smart or a bit too subtle, great shows like these get cancelled. Ah well.

I was a huge fan of the ABC Cops show "High Incident" but it was on the same time as Friends on NBC Thursdays
It was a drama is alot of comic relief. To avoid being cancelled they ended on a cliff-hanger, then got canned anyway. Infact they were officially canned on my birthday

Dennis Leary was in a great show called "The Job". It only lasted 19 episodes so boooo! to people that didn't watch it.
There used to be a great show on several channels called "NHL Hockey" but it seems that has been cancelled as well. Anyone know what happened to that?

I used to love the Canadian one called The Newsroom. Some of the same guys who went on to do made in Canada.
Samurai Jack is an amazing animated show, incredible visuals. There would be entire episodes that would have only a half dozen lines of dialog in them. I think it's been cancelled (or at least is on hiatus). Even when it was on TV, it was only on Friday nights at 11:30.
Six Feet Under is very good, as far as dramas go.

I'm sure most of you know this by now, as its gotten massive buzz and huge DVD sales, but The Office is an amazingly funny, if slightly uncomfortable series. If you ever get a chance to watch it, take it.

I own 'em all buddy! Truly awesome show. I can't count the number of times my wife and I had to stop the DVD because we were laughing so hard at something we missed the next 5 minutes of the show. The David Brent dance scene still makes my bladder ache I laugh so hard.

Yeah, that was the brutal part about showing it to new people. They'd be laughing so hard after a scene that they'd miss the next 2-3 subtle jokes that were even funnier. The mannerisms of David Brent are timeless.

Yeah, I bought the Ali G 1st season, it was only like 28 bucks at HMV I think for 6 episodes, well worth it. Curb Your Enthusiam is another one of those 'uncomfortable humour' shows. I find Larry to be a perfect cross between George, Kramer, and Jerry.

Here's some for you Ag...
The Young Ones....British Comedy with Rik Mayall...absolutely hilarious. You can buy "Every Stoopid Episode" on DVD...like I just did.
SciFi you say?
Millenium.....I loved that show. It was created by Chris Carter (X-Files). Beautifully filmed and scored (Mark Snow, also of X-files). Stars Lance Henrikksen and one of my favorite TV actors, Terry O'Quinn (he's on Lost now). I don't want to give the plot away...but I think you'd like it. Great stuff. Newly out on DVD.
You said hidden gems, but since some people have mentioned shows like 6' Under and Curb Your Enthusiasm, I'll mention another that certainly isn't hidden. 24, I didn't watch the first 3 seasons at all....but have watched the first 2 on DVD (3rd due out DEC 7) over the last couple of months and was thoroughly swallowed up by it. Great stuff...especially for conspiracy theorists such as yourself! :P :P :P

I'd agree with Babylon 5. Battlestar Galactica - the new one - started off in a very interesting way . . . . I hope it hasn't been cancelled or something.
I gotta throw Rocky & Bullwinkle in here too. And I'm back watching The Flintstones after an absence of some decades. I'm not sure if they are "little known" however.

Some recommendations from me:
- Denis Leary is on a new show that airs on Showcase Thursday nights called Rescue Me. Very good show. Check it out if you liked The Job.
- Reuniting the bands is a reat show on MMM - each week they try to reunited 80s bands for one more concert. Very good show
- Passionate Eye is great for documentaries Sunday nights.
- Arrested Development is the funniest show on television right now
- Scrubs is a close second
Hidden Gems that I used to watch but are now gone
- Sports Night
- Millenium
- American Gothic
- Adventures of Briscoe County Jr. (with Bruce Campbell!)
I'm forgetting a ton I'm sure.

I used to love that show! Haven't thought about it in years, but when I was probably sixteen or so, it was one of my favorites.

Yep, that one only ran like 1 - 1 1/2 seasons. It was super-cool, the Sheriff in it was the boss in Office Space, he was really creepy.
