Haven't read the whole thread but why not use the skunk cage trap? Would work 100% overnight with sardines in the trap.

we had a skunk burrow underneath our stairs in the front of our last house. I put a rag drenched in ammonia underneath the stairs and it was gone.
try that?

When will you building the escalator or elevator?
Also are wooden window wells common? I've never seen this before.

Need to start a Skunk Cam. We are all very curious on how the skunk is doing. By the way, is it possible that the skunk is pregnant and not interested in coming out?

Man, I was gonna suggest building some sort of steps down there but didn't suggest it because I thought it'd sound ridiculous.

What are the chances this skunk has found his winter home? Or at least thinks it has. You need to make it more uncomfortable for the skunk to stay there without making it spray. Bright lights on in the basement all the time, maybe some music or something being played right at the window. Have you tried the sardine thing? They should be able to smell them, I'd chuck a couple over into my neighbours yard or under his deck...jk...maybe.

We have been feeding several skunks in the house for years and they're pretty cool.
Never been sprayed because our cats have been buddies with them for years.
I understand the nuisance but ours only come around 4 months out of the year and then disappear.

That's very true.
It could even be leaving at night and returning now that the ramp and stairs are in place. Skunk cam please.

Great thread so far. Kept me at the edge of my seat.
Maybe the skunk is burrowing in to have her litter of skunk babies?

It has been my experience with trapped animals or birds that they will not come out when bright lights are on.
Put the cat inside and put sardines or tuna up the stairs, put out the lights, no music, and see what happens. After three days, this skunk should be desperate or almost dead.
Also, get a professional. If this skunk sprays while down in your window well, your whole house is going to be pretty uninhabitable for awhile.

I think the skunk made it out the skunk stairs sometime during the night I set it up. I lined the egress with a metric crap ton of critter ridder, chlorine and ammonia + closed up the burrow the morning after the stairs went up and it hadn't opened up again by today so I am cautiously optimistic.

I did order a night vision security camera to track progress for this, but doesn't look like it'll get here in time. Should have paid for Amazon Prime.

I water the lawn there daily so hopefully he was picking up a lot of the water going down the egress.

Really didn't want the thing to burrow deeper than he/she already did, but didn't want to kill it. Which is why I flooded the egress with as much noxious fumes like chlorine and ammonia + critter ridder. I also kept on shining a super bright flashlight into the burrow so it would wake it up all the time.

Not sure about the wooden window well. It's a new build so that's what the builder gave me and it's all PT. Am probably going to raise it if I can and paint it some more because I am worried about rot.

Now that skunk is gone I'd be stapling some kind of mesh over the window well to make sure it doesnt come back.

Typical trash panda propaganda. This is exactly what I would expect a raccoon to say.
