No trading Bennett please.

Tre seems to really love this part of the job. Actually, I believe he is on record saying that negotiating contracts is his favorite part of being a GM.

What that means for the Flames is that there is a vision in place with foresight to build a team for now and the future.

What that means for fans is that there is probably plenty of nerve fraying for years to come. I bet there will be many a contract negotiated by Treliving that will be anything but smooth but come in at a reasonable dollar amount.

What it means for players is frankly get on board or get the eff off. There is not a chance that Treliving negotiates like this without being completely prepared to walk away from anyone. It is a game of brinksmanship, and threatening to go to Europe is such a soft attempt at that it is painful to watch. Just another agent that got a call from his player saying that he wants the deal done. "Wait a minute Sam, let me just try one more thing..."

Give his money to Jagr!

Ever since the firing of Nonis, Dreger isn't really that reliable.

im just wondering if Bennett is a bit of a headcase, to himself... If that makes sense?

He wants to be "The Guy", has the tools to be that guy, but hasn't found the success he desired at the NHL Level. If he feels that its due to lineups and opportunity.. That's on him to a large extent. But more so, the fact that hes not quite ready for that responsibility. Not that he wont ever be able to handle it, but there are guys better than him right now.

I like his competitive nature and he wants the puck! That said, perhaps he feels he should be deferred to when skating up the ice. I think there is also a bit of pout to his game but that could be due to him feeling like he deserves more.
And who knows, maybe he would excel given that responsibility. But who does he displace?

I hope im wrong on all accounts and he see's the opportunity before him. To move forward with a young core while being sheltered so he can develop more.

If this does turn into an ugly situation, a request for a trade could certainly happen. But its unlikely that Tre would let this get out of hand.

He wasn't even that reliable when cousin Dave was with the Canucks or Leafs.

Anything from Dreger should be taken with a huge grain of salt. He has no credibility.

Does Dreger's tweet hurt the Bennett camp, especially if its not accurate?

I doubt it hurts either side.

Just don't get the gross overreaction by some in this thread.

I'm not saying I believe this just a different perspective. What I do believe is Tre currently has is wizard hat on and is just watching the puzzle pieces fall into place
Yea I'm sure Bennett would prefer Brouwer or Chiasson on his right wing instead of the guy who helped Barkov find his offensive game.

26 points 81 games Enough said. Its about time all GM's stuck together and stopped overpaying players like this who think they deserve multi-million year deals based on potential. Prove yourself on a short lower pay contract then ask for more.

Sorry I think players in this position are whiney spoiled rotten brats. Go work underground in a mine, harvest some fields this fall or work in a dirty non ventilated mill for a lot less money. Then try to demand more money.

Clearly Wotherspoon was the domino that had to fall.

I'd rather sign Wideman at this point.

Go work in a mine and see if you can get people to pay to watch you. He's one of the most talented athletes in his field in the world.

He works in market that makes billions of dollars a year.

It's a business.

Life ain't fair.

It's also his agent, not the player.

And it's also a BS tweet that means nothing.

I wont be mad or react unless he actually starts missing camp

IF it went that far though I would have to wonder about him/his agent

I think Sam in an intelligent guy and I think he saw how missing training camp last year played a role in how Johnny and Sean started off the season. I don't think he wants to deal with the same kind of thing. If I were him, I would sign a 1 year show me deal, I think he will be great this year. I can't wait to see how he has developed over the summer and I think he will fight to get top 6 playing time and the best part about that, is it will be tough not to promote the kid if he can play his game.

I would love to see a line with him and Chucky together at some point in time. Please make this happen.
