I found a purse in BC in the ditch, with a ripped up jacket. Thought I'd be needing to police right away....
After picking it up and finding a Calgary ID, o Google's her, facebooked her, found a mutual friend to pass my cell number on, and she got back to me. Ended up being super cute, gave me a bunch of random restaurant promo stuff, and got her purse with everything in it except the cash. She said her stuff got stolen from her table at a bar one night.

I've done B twice. Both cases I dropped off at the address on the ID. I have also had a stranger return my wife's wallet with cash intact. Any other options are stealing, imo.

I lost my wallet when I was 16. They old guy who found it yelled at me like a drill sargent and took my five bucks right in front of me. I've not lost anything since.

The other week I found a cheque on the sidewalk on 4th Street which had a high 4-digit number value on it. I immediately brought it to the police station. That's not my money and that cheque could have been someone's lifeline for something... a deposit, someone's medical payments, whatever.
Anything other than B is, as mentioned, is a dick move. Selfishly, returning something that isn't yours also leaves you with a warm heart and a clean conscience.

The only time I've ever found a lost wallet was in Vegas and the guy was from Michigan I think? It was a while ago. I went to the hotel desk and asked them to look him up but he evidently wasnt staying there so I just posted it to his home address. That would be an interesting surprise when he got home.

unless it was made out to cash its not like you would be able to get any money from someones else's cheque anyway.

Wouldn't it also have a name on it of the recipient or the cheque issuer? I have always wondered how much effort the police put into returning things like cheques or wallets; do they actively look for the person, or does it go to a lost and found and its up to the person who lost the item to come looking for it? Anyway, I guess I would have just returned it or notified whoever's name was on the cheque.
I found a cell phone on the seat of a train. I had actually seen the lady who was sitting there, and we we had just started disembarking from the train so I figured I could catch up to her and give it back. That didn't happen, as she must have been in a hurry and I couldn't see her at all. There were a lot of police around, but I ended up giving it to somebody who was an employee at the train station. I figured the employee would have a better chance at getting it back to the lady, and the police looked busy with their train inspection.

I've only ever found an iphone, no wallets or anything.
It was dead but I charged it in hopes that I could return it.
Well I looked through the texts and texted a group text "I found this phone, please have the owner text me at xxxxx (my number)" Well I got texts from 4 different people yelling at me for stealing their friends phone... As if I would give them my number if I stole the phone.
Anyway I told them I worked downtown and to come pick it up. Text me when they arrive. Her brother showed up as he worked downtown too. We had a good laugh about how stupid his sister was and he gave me $40. I insisted he didn't have to but he insisted so I took it.

I've found wallets twice, and returned them to the address on the drivers license. In one case it had cash (which I didn't take) and in another it didn't.
Also found a diamond ring on the sidewalk it was in front of a school on a Saturday. The school served as a Korean Community Centre on weekends, and there were lots of cars parked along the sidewalk, so I took the ring inside and gave it to the caretaker with instructions to pass it on to whoever was in charge of the community event.

I'd make an effort to return the wallet. I lost mine a few years back and the lady who found it managed to track me down. I would be choked if someone stole my wallet. If the contents didn't immediately provide an address I'd give it to the police or security.

Not only do I not take the money but I put in a little extra to mitigate all the stress the person no doubt went through.
But I also write down their home address so I can case the joint and rob them later.

I once found $200 rolled up in the alley behind a strip mall. Pretty sure it's where the high school kids do their drug deals, so I didn't feel to bad about picking it up and using it for hookers and blow.

I have also been on both ends of this scenario. B was the choice in both situations which I was grateful for. It disgusts me to think there would be a significant number of people that would choose anything but option B.

leave it with building security but also put a note on the wiper of both vehicles stating that you did that so they know where to look.
I've found wallets before and have driven to their house to return them (both cases it was on my way home)
losing a wallet is such a pain in the ass,

In that situation probably option F. I take the cash inside of the wallet, and use it to purchase a Flames wallet. Transfer the cards, remaining cash etc to the Flames wallet and return it saying that's how I found it.

I found a wallet on Friday. I was at Disneyland and it was sitting on top of the fastpass machine for California Screamin. I handed it to the Cast Member working the Fastpass line.
Poor guy probably thought he lost it on the ride.
