Sharapova better be careful with this match. This girl has a huge serve. This isn't creampuff Halep.

Well that's it for Pospisil at the US Open. What a massive disappointment as he retires after laying an absolute dud in the first set.
At this point I'm not even sure he should be representing Canada at the Davis cup if he cannot even play consecutive tournaments without injury. Starting to get concerned with the lineup considering Raonic is also a question mark based on his recovery timelines.

Vasek does seem to raise his game for Davis Cup play is the only reason to keep him on the team (but maybe just for doubles with old man Nestor). If Milos can't go, do you go with El Shapo and Polansky for singles?

Shriekapova moves through to round 3 with a comeback win.

It's kind of amazing how this thread still looks at a Genie Bouchard flame out as anything unexpected. She's barely worth talking about at this point.

You're right. Does the Genie Army groupies even attend her matches anymore? I think they jumped ship a while ago.

At least when she no longer qualifies for tournaments she'll be released from the burden of Canada.
Any update on her lawsuit against the US Open?

I don't know if anybody is watching Sasha Zverev vs. Coric, but there is some very fine tennis being played.
Edit: Coric just leveled the match at one set apiece.

I know it's disappointing for Kyrgios today but I remember a young hot shot losing in the first round at wimbledon two years in a row....his name Roger Federer

The quality of this match just underscores the bizarre decision to put the Genie match on Ashe. A match like this should be on Ashe, two young up and comers, not two middle players going nowhere.

Yeah, and that's just about as far as that comparison will take you.
Shapovalov pushed back to 7 now. Annoying. I want to see this.

Coric playing some fantastic tennis to take 5 of the first 6 points in this 3rd set tie-breaker.
Edit: Closes out the 3rd set winning the tie-breaker 7-1. Sasha will have to go five sets to move on in this tourney.

Are you kidding me? With such a ridiculous comparison they might as well rename you Kyrgios Fan.

Venus chokes so we could be here another 60-90 minutes, or since it's women's tennis she'll break right back and Denis will be up shortly.

Geez, every time Coric looks like he's going to blink, he just comes up with the goods.

Sasha with three set points to force a fifth set.
Edit: All three set points saved by Coric. Now a game point for Coric to force a tie-break. Yup, 4th set tie-breaker it is.
