Drysaddle's camp is probably asking for 10 and the oilers are probably offering 7.5ish. I wonder if they do a 6 year deal to get the aav down around 7.5

It all depends... $10m/yr in Quebec isnt even close to $9.5m/yr in the US.

I for one don't see us adding anyone else, the extra cap space will be used to re-sign Bennett and possibly add a piece at the trade deadline.

That's fine if you don't want this to happen. That's great that you would rather see him in the Olympics. I would love to see him there too.

However, you don't seriously think that people will 'drop it', do you? Given what he has meant to Calgary and all. Many people want to see him playing here, even if it is on a 4th line role. Heck, I would be as pleased as the only rooster in a huge hen house if Iginla was signed for a cheap contract, and then came in and proceeded to pot-in 10-15 goals, stick up for his team mates, and show the young kids on the team what level of dedication they need to have to stay healthy and productive for that long.

You may not like it, and that's fair. I can understand that. I therefore insist that you must also understand how MANY people would love it, and asking people to drop it isn't going to happen.

Why? Because Edmonton is the best place to play in the world. Move over Disneyland!

Love how he notes that Edmonton is the best chance Draisaitl has at a cup ring. The funny thing being that if he signs there for what we think he will, that actually limits his chances at getting a ring there substantially.

It's incredibly presumptuous to automatically declare Draisaitl a top-10 scorer for the next two seasons, especially considering how poorly he produces away from McDavid.

		| We’re not saying Edmonton is the only team in the National Hockey League that gives us the feeling that a Stanley Cup championship is imminent. There are a few teams like that (Toronto, Dallas, Calgary) and a few other mainstays (Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington, Anaheim) that could win it any year as well.
But find me a landing spot for Draisaitl that has a better chance than Edmonton of putting a ring on his finger. There isn’t one, and the big German is in on the ground floor of this project, and quite possibly could be wearing a letter in that photo, if the Oilers ever do gather around Big Stanley after a victory in June.
 |
This makes no sense. Nevermind the list, Spector doesn't offer any sort of reason that his chances be better in Edmonton than in Toronto, Dallas, Calgary, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington, or Anaheim.

He really didn't say that.

Firstly, he said better than Edmonton, he didn't say Edmonton was better than those teams.

Secondly, he said "landing spots". Those teams aren't likely landing spots.
