2024 is going to be huge with way more big cities on the path, today it's really only Nashville. But 2024 is Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Buffalo, Cleveland, Montreal, and almost Toronto.

Only up to 81% covered here in Pittsburgh, but the view with the glasses is certainly awesome.
The oddest thing is how it looks so dark outside for 2:30 in the afternoon. It looks like it should be gearing up for a storm, and then you look outside, and there are only a few high cirrus clouds in the sky.
I'm excited for 2024, only a couple of hours of driving to get to totality, rather than the 8-9 it would've been for me this year.

I captured these using the binocular method. The shadows of the bars on the windows (not in prison) where the bars intersect even show the eclipse. Cool stuff.

2099 follows pretty much the Trans-Canada and has longer totality, but 2044 has much more totality for Alberta as a whole... plus, you know, we might be alive. Almost 2 minutes of totality at 7:40 pm.

I was watching John Oliver's show from last night and Leslie Horton and the Global News morning show cast made it into his highlight clip when the crew was making fun of Leslie because she was planning on looking directly at the sun today.

Mountains could be an issue in 2044 from some vantage points with the sun low. Further northwest like Grande Prairie would be slightly better and the sun a bit higher. We're kind of a ways out, I suppose.

Is the blindness thing more for people near totality? I was outside today and it was a bit dimmer than usual but still bright enough no one could stare at the sun, just like on normal days, it was way too bright.
But on the news they said it is painless and people don't realize they are going blind. So how is this possible? I couldn't have stared at the sun if I tried. Just like on any sunny day even the slightest glimpse hurts my sensitive eyes and I look away. How would someone not notice?

Yeah it's for somewhere in totality in the minutes before/after the sun actually being covered where there's a serious risk cause the sky is getting dark and people start to think it's okay but the sun is still ruthless until it's completely covered. Also places where it's like 95% max totality and the sky is noticeably darker so people just be morons and look.
