I have a pet theory that a good portion of what Trump says and does and believes is rooted in "you can't tell me what to do". He believes contrarian and conspiracy stuff because you can't tell him what to think. He goes beyond the norms because you can't tell him how to act.

Or I could be wrong, and it's driven out of simply us vs. them.

Oh I don't know, running away from problems and declaring victory seems like a total Trump move. It's basically what he does all the time. Instead of dealing with some problem or another he organizes a rally so he can tell his cultists of all the winning he's been doing.

I tend to agree he won't resign, but only because resigning hurts the almost certain Trump media empire that will be created when he's done. His cultists are dedicated to be sure, but they might actually feel betrayed if he just quit, and that would put the media empire in a hole to start with. I tend to think he's more trying to dare the GOP to impeach him, since that's the dream scenario for starting the media empire.

Now if you could find a way for him to resign and keep the cultists on board, then yeah I could see him going soon. I cannot imagine he actually wants to do this for another 41 months, especially since most likely the worst is yet to come.

I've typed so many things into this little box over the last few days and just erased them after. I'm not sure what the point is anymore. If people can't get behind punting this clown, his followers, and anyone tainted by his f***ing spray tan into the sun by now I don't know what to say anymore.

Not sure if this has been brought up in here yet, but my brother and I were chatting about this over lunch and he brought up the idea that they should throw the guy who ran the car through that crowd into Guantanamo Bay. I thought it would make a brilliant statement. And then we obviously both agreed it would never happen under Trump, or anyone that could possibly wind up as President after all the dust settles here. Sad.

Every exchange or interaction with trump is a zero sum game. It's why every single comment he makes coincides with a putdown of some kind.

Trump win, other person lose.

He needs to make himself look strong every time he opens his mouth otherwise he looks weak.

Couldn't happen. Anyone arrested for a crime committed inside the United States is protected by the Constitution - Miranda rights, Habeus Corpus, Trial by Jury, etc. etc.

What allowed Guantanamo to exist - in the legal sense - was that the people sent there were all taken into custody outside the United States for 'crimes' (in quotes as few, if any, of the people detained there have ever been charged or tried for anything) which were also committed outside the United States.

Sending anyone from the US to Guantanamo would be such a violation of the Constitution I don't think anyone would even try it. Every Judge in America would order that reversed.

I suspect there's not a chance in hell he actually responds here, but that I cannot definitively dismiss the possibility he goes off the ledge here says a lot. Just imagine he goes full Trump on this one though, that could be enough to push him into the Nixon zone approval wise.

Lots of speculation Bannon is getting fired today. Should be an interesting test of the cult if he is dumped.

If he actually attacks the mother of Heather Heyer, I'd like to think that would finally be the one thing that spells the end of Trump's presidency. But once again, unless the GOP suddenly grows a spine, I doubt it. Even the fact that he's a neo-Nazi sympathizer hasn't really diminished his support among the majority of the GOP and his racist deplorable base. Sure, a small handful of GOP senators condemned his remarks, and good on them for doing so. But will they actually grow a pair and do something about it? Probably not. At this point, Trump would literally have to walk onto the senate floor and kill a baby in front of everyone, and then maybe they'd consider possible impeachment, or at least start having a conversation about it. And that's a big maybe.

He's gone after a tortured POW. He's gone after the family of a soldier that died for his country.

That was while he was campaigning for the presidency.

I'm glad Susan Bro is doing this. Quite a statement.
Still remember how Trump exploited (imo) that widow of a soldier in his SOU address, so pathetic
