Calgary ranked 5th most liveable city in the World
I'm not sure how much stock most of you put into reports like this, but The Economist has put out their 2017 rankings of the most liveable cities in the world. As a Canadian, I greatly enjoy seeing our country constantly ranked amongst the best in the world and a desirable location for people to want to live. I often hear during my world travels how much people want to come to Canada and live a good life.
This year, Calgary was ranked #5 in the world's most liveable cities. In fact, 3 of the top 5 cities were Canadian (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary). For all the flack Calgary can get sometimes about being boring, uncultured or whatever else, it sure is nice to live in a city that is recognised consistently as being one of the top places it the world to live.
This post isn't meant in anyway to be used to bash against Edmonton in the E=NG thread (although I'm sure it will find its way there). More then anything, it's to recognise how good our quality of life in Calgary (and Canada in general) is and how lucky we are to live here. Personally I think it's something to be proud of.
You can get a free summary of the report here. If anyone has a link to the entire list, I'd be interested in seeing it.

While it's cool Calgary ranked that high, keep in mind that the report is aimed at global executives who relocate for work.

In reality any of these lists have flawed methodology you could poke all sorts of holes in. This being the most prominent ranking though, it's definitely good for our city's image, at very least, that we keep showing up in the top ten.

Having lived in Adelaide, it is basically Australian Calgary; except replace the mountains with the Ocean and vineyards, and -40 weather with +40. So wait...why're we tied again?

Been to all major Australian cities, and Perth is way more like Calgary than anywhere else.

You don't really appreciate all the things Calgary does right until you move away. They deserve to be on that list.

We'll go up 3 ranks when we put in more bike lanes, more "art", and bring all the residential roads down to 20km/h because 30 is too fast, let alone 50.

Pfft. I'd rather be -40 than +40.
Also once Sean Chu gets booted from council we will no longer be tied and will be sitting 4th all alone.

Also everything in Australia is venomous. Including the kangaroos and koalas.
The only thing venomous here in Alberta is Danielle Smith.

One thing we take for granted with Calgary is how clean the overall city is. I mean, it's not Tokyo clean mind you, but its far cleaner than 99% of all the other cities I've visited.
There are parts of Vancouver and Toronto that smell like salty garbage.
