Colbert is going to be a must-watch on Monday. His interview with Scaramucci will be fantastic, I'm sure of it.

You don't need to watch any CNN to realize how incredibly sad and pathetic Trump is. Twitter does that for us, like when Trump is retweeting Twitter polls to prove he's "better than Obama". Because normal, non-pathetic people often do this.

With all these news about Trump being obsessed with undoing Obama policies and not actually caring what they are, I wonder if Obama regrets roasting him at the press dinner a few years ago.

... Nah.

Sometime in the future: After President Trump said eating your own feces and washing it down with a glass of urine makes you stronger, about half of Republicans support this as the national daily meal.

Quote:
The survey interviewed a sample of 1,325 Americans from June 5 through 20. Respondents were recruited from the Qualtrics online panel who had previously reported identifying with or leaning toward one of the two major parties. We focus on the 650 respondents who identify with or lean toward the Republican Party. The sample has been weighted to match the population in terms of sex, age, race and education.

After a series of initial questions, respondents were asked whether Trump won the popular vote, whether millions of illegal immigrants voted, and how often voter fraud occurs. These questions evoke arguments frequently made by Trump and others about the integrity of the 2016 election.

Then the survey asked two questions about postponing the 2020 election.

If Donald Trump were to say that the 2020 presidential election should be postponed until the country can make sure that only eligible American citizens can vote, would you support or oppose postponing the election?

What if both Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress were to say that the 2020 presidential election should be postponed until the country can make sure that only eligible American citizens can vote? Would you support or oppose postponing the election?

Nearly half of Republicans (47 percent) believe that Trump won the popular vote, which is similar to this finding. Larger fractions believe that millions of illegal immigrants voted (68 percent) and that voter fraud happens somewhat or very often (73 percent). Again, this is similar to previous polls.

Moreover, 52 percent said that they would support postponing the 2020 election, and 56 percent said they would do so if both Trump and Republicans in Congress were behind this.

The problem with uttering military threats against North Korea is that there is no military option.

If there was a military option to deal with North Korea it would've been freakin' used at some point in the last 50 years. The most militaristic nation on Earth is not going to just sit on a military solution to an antagonistic foreign power that threatens an ally, it just makes no sense.

The people that understand this the most ARE the North Koreans. Trump is playing poker with his cards facing the wrong way.

I am happy that a US president (any president) is standing up to North Korea. But I'm biased when it comes to Communists in Asia.

What could/should Trump do to appease everyone? Continue the give sanctions/takeaway sanctions square dance of the last 50 years?

There's no military option, unless you just happen to not care about the deaths of tens of millions of South Koreans and Japanese people.

I was talking about this a few months ago with a guy from the US who gradually revealed himself to be pretty pro-Trump. He wanted an example of how Trump had been de-stabilizing globally. I went with North Korea as the example (long before any of this had happened - mostly it centered around undermining the relationship between the US and South Korea). His view on the potential destruction on the peninsula that could be brought about by being reckless? "Not our problem".

I don't know that Trump has any more nuance than that himself.

How about just putting dprk on ignore? Stopping news coverage. Stop responding. Sanction them and forget about it. They're never going to do anything.

He hasn't stood up to North Korea. He's doing the same sanctions square dance, he's just doing it louder.

This has been the strategy pretty much forever, until now. I mean, you can't completely stop news coverage, but for the most part, the best thing to do has always been recognized as "don't engage", because this sort of stuff only strengthens the Kims.

There were tougher sanctions passed by the UN recently. And yes Trump is doing it louder but I want to see if North Korea threatens more, will those sanctions stick this time or will the regime still find a way to slip around them.
