Israel does it again
Nineteen dead as artillery shell hits wrong target.
http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Con...d=970599119419
But they're really sorry about it! Some were anyway. Others celebrated.
Quote:
Jewish extremists meeting in Jerusalem to mark the 16th anniversary of the death of radical ring-wing Rabbi Meir Kahane praised the Gaza killings, describing the strike as the work of "the holy cannon."
|
And wouldn't you know it, it was a faulty computer card that caused the killings.
And here I thought it was indiscriminantly shelling a town using the most inaccurate weapon they could have chosen.
One former Israeli weapson experts seems to agree.
Quote:
One of the main architects of the Israeli weapons industry last night called on his government to end the tactic of artillery bombardment of the Gaza Strip after a volley of errant shells rained on civilian homes, killing 19 Palestinians.Arms expert Bonen Zeev called the weapons system "too inaccurate to expect no civilian casualties."

Is anyone surprised that the US will likely veto any UN probe into this 'accident'?

Remind me please? When was the most recent suicide attack? How many civilian were killed and how many Palestian (and Lebanese) civilians have been killed since?
While you're at it, how 'bout showing the total number of civilian deaths on all sides?
There is no way Israel can claim the moral high ground.
Thanks for coming out though.

My computer cards are always acting up as well. Soon, these types of "accidents" will be avoided when the IDF receives their shipments of Apple ][s.

That is, until the batteries catch fire and explode inside the artillery chamber.

Well I'm of the opinion that if the Palestinians stopped kidnapping or suicide attacks or any other act the Israelis wouldn't be doing anything to them. I can't think of a time when there has been a lull in this ongoing conflict where it wasn't started back up by someone other than the Israeli's.
You have a government in power whose stated objective is to erase Israel from the map --- the Israeli's have the high moral ground over that anytime, everyday and always.

until people figure out that the terrorism practiced by palestinian arabs against israelis, and before that jewish settlers in palestine, is the only possible response by an occupied / colonized population to the acts of terror perpetrated against them since the zionist movement started settling palestine, then people will scratch their heads forever on 'where all this hate' comes from.
pretty simple math.
action, reaction.
most westerners are only aware of the reaction, and we're very ignorant of the action.

So peace negotiations are not a possible response? In your eyes, the Palestinians must continue to blow up busses full of women and children until the Israelis abandon their country?

ummm.... no.
but weh npeople are chased from their homes by violence there's typically only one response, violence.
it's not 'right' but neither was resettling them in the first place.
and yes, i know, the <standard defending israel response # 53> to that is saying that:
'the arabs' signed this agreement
or 'the arabs' pledged to resettle the palestinian arabs on their times and dime.
browbeating a british puppet king, young feisal, into signing an agreement that he himself didn't have to do a damn thing to honour, is total hogwash.
weizmann and his modern supporters as well as balfour and his modern apologists should be ashamed of themselves.
british foreign ministry creates a new arab kingship unilaterally and appoints one arab to speak for all of them, and then they lean on him to sign a piece of paper granting palestine to zionist interests.
the FACT is, that the arabs living in palestine were never consulted on any of this, and the deeds to the land purcased from ottoman landowners in riyadh, istanbul, and damascus should have died with that sick and bloated empire.

Heh, 10:40 am Nov 11 is the first time I agree with Looger.
However after reading the entire thread, why do people need to simply things as identifying who is the good guys and who is the bad guys? Can't they both be a little selfish, ignorant and short sighted?

Yep, agreed with both of you.
Just wanted Looger to admit that his statement was false...and he did. I'm satisifed.

So which is it? The Palestenians have no choice but to blow themselves up in busses and bistros? Or they DO have choices.
You've made both statements in this thread at this point. I'm confused.

i'm saying that as masses of people go, killing someone's civilians ALWAYS elcicits a similar response.
terrr breeds terror.
yes, many palestinians have chosen the high road and have agreed to recognize israel. but as long as settlers keep pushing palestinians out of their homes and shooting them for fun, then there WILL be palestinian suicide bombers, because that's the only way they can strike back.
collective punishment against 'the palestinians' is exactly the root of the problem behind the current wave of palestinian terrorists.

no i'm not.
many settlers are of the EXTREME variety, and take potshots at palestinian children miles away while they're climbing olive trees foraging for food.
what our media calls 'time of relative peace and quiet' means that no israelis are dying.
