Waiting for Trump's inevitable rage-tweet about these leaks:

Pretty treasonous whoever leaked these transcripts. I wonder if they can find out who did it.

The only defence I've seen from Republicans on those transcripts is that leaking is illegal, Obama holdovers are trying to ruin Trump, catch the leakers at all costs.
These must have come from the White House itself, there's no Obama holdovers. It's all on Trump's own people.
If they think having a military General in there to tighten the screws and punish leakers will reduce the leaks they're in for a surprise. The more you squeeze, the more comes out between your fingers.

That's debatable, I can see someone wanting to leak the transcripts to try and convince the country that Trump is a dangerous fool and his administration puts their country in serious jeopardy in the event something serious happens.
They may have waited a while to do it so that any details in them aren't harmful to any specific negotiations.
Or it could just be the leaker trying to gain advantage for their WH faction or get a message to Trump.

I think more so the effect this may have on future communication with other world leaders. I'm not sure anyone is going to be too keen on a Trump chat if it's going to be transcribed and shared with the world.

I think there are people who are genuinely worried about the sanity and mental health of this president, which makes them feel the need to leak all this stuff.

Normally, this would be true, but both Nieto and Turnbull look like geniuses in these transcripts.....and I'm sure every other world leader would look the same when their dialogue was put up against Trumps

Wow, those transcripts are almost unbelievable. Having dealt with many stupid folks via phone, I can only imagine the exasperation Turnbull and Nieto must have felt followed by the shaking head in hands disbelief upon ending the call.

Good point and to be honest I hadn't considered that. Whether that'd end up being good or bad is debatable
The other thing I notice is Trump sounds pretty articulate in those calls. He's still unprepared (or just lying about basic facts), but he at least is coherent.
But those were early on, there's been some talk about Trump's apparent decline in his ability to speak unscripted. Compare those transcripts with recent interviews with the NYT and Wall Street Journal, where putting together a coherent paragraph seems like a struggle.
Not that I necessarily think he's suffering from some brain ailment or something, getting old and stress and lack of sleep could account for the deterioration.

Are you kidding? He sounds like an unhinged idiot throughout. At one point (below), he calls off the interpreter. I could almost hear the interpreter's sigh of relief, realizing that he wouldn't have to try to turn Donald's "English" into some form of coherent Spanish.

And interpreter, I think Enrique understands everything I said, unless you, Enrique, feel you want an interpretation for this, please continue to go forward, is that okay?"
PEŅA NIETO
Yes, I will be okay.

It still seems like they're noticeably better than his most recent interviews.

An article I just read agrees with you. Perhaps it was just the contrast between the two parties on each call that clouds my judgement. Compared to his counterparts, he sounds like an unhinged idiot. But perhaps compared to himself 6 months later, he sounds sane.

I would imagine that even prior to this every world leader's conversation with another world leader are guarded anyway. You'd have to be a fool to think your conversation isn't recorded and transcribed anyway and is therefore susceptible to being leaked at some stage.
And as much as I hate the guy, I have to agree that he at least sounds more coherent in those transcripts than he usually does. Not knowing how these conversations go, is it possible that the call is put on hold for a minute every so often so that advisors can brief their leaders on what to say?

His own lack of articulateness cannot be the baseline for overall articulateness. I can't get through two sentences of his language without face palming. At least 50% of what he says is just not proper order of words or thoughts or approaches a complete thought. He interrupts himself about how great or terrible something is and spins off into some thought that has nothing to do with anything and it just ends there.
