The GOP is going to force this through, and with no real repercussions, Ryan and the rest of the GOP Reps are going to pass it, and Trump is going to sign it. I'll be shocked if this doesn't get through before next week.
CBO score says that under this plan, premiums will go up 20% every single year from 2018-2026. So the 2600 I pay a year now would jump to over 3100 next year, by 2020 I'd be paying 4488 a year. If nothing changed, by 2026? 13300+ annually. This is unsustainable.
Hopefully if this does go through, people actually realize that GOP policies are hurting them and vote these dumpster fires out of office.

If I wasn't living right in the middle of it, I'd be right there with you. But my premiums, deductibles, copays will go up right along with the idiots who voted for this BS. My coverage will drop. So I'm going to feel the sting of this just as much as they did (and probably more so than the men).
As much as I want these GOP voting jackasses to feel the pain of this, there are millions of Americans who did not vote for this who are going to suffer massively because of this. I can only hope that in 2018 people get their heads out of their collective behinds.
And the real bitter irony of this: the test that found McCain's cancer? The ACA ensured that test was covered, so that people would be able to find that cancer early and attempt to deal with it. So McCain literally came back from recovering--with taxpayer paid time off--from a taxpayer funded surgery, with travel that taxpayers paid for, to vote to screw over those taxpayers out of anything near the healthcare quality that he himself enjoys.
The GOP are just flat out inhumane at this point.

You mean the Iraq war, when he invaded a country that had nothing to do with 9/11? The two wars he started and then left off the budget so the American people didn't know how many trillions of dollars were being sunk into them? The power vacuum his actions caused that led to the rise of ISIS?
None of that really made him look good, not short term or long term. And that was with at least some competent people in his cabinet (though for his competence, Cheney was also just evil). Trump has thousands of positions left vacant, and he's surrounded by people just as incompetent as he is. A military crisis would make this dramatically worse.

Yeah, but they'll just blame it on Obama and the Democrats, and they'll be believed, because the only thing people will see is that Ovamacare is falling apart with rising premiums and more people losing coverage. The reason why isn't important, just that it is happening. This is an abomination of government.

Reporters currently saying that Republicans don't have the votes to pass skinny repeal. Holding the vote open to try and turn one of Collins, Murkowski, or McCain.
I just want to say that I really appreciate your point of view from where you live, to the people you know. It must be very frustrating for you knowing there is really not anything you can do and just hope everyone around you gets screwed so they see the light.
I do my best, I vote, and I'd love to call and read a few reps/senators the riot act over this stuff, but being in an urban county, my reps are already Dems, and one of my Senators is a Dem who rarely votes out of line with my values, and the other Senator JUST got voted in on a 6 year term so he just couldn't possibly care less what his constituents think. He refuses to hold town halls, refuses to answer questions from his constituents, just votes on party lines at all times. (Toomey, btw. I most certainly did not vote for him in November)
So I'm handcuffed. Blue county in a purple state. Anyone I could attempt to influence is already going to vote in my favor anyway.
This last 9 months or so have been exhausting. I miss waking up without wondering, within 20 minutes "oh god what happened since I went to bed last night?" I've had a few nights this week where I just shut down the tv, internet, everything, just put on soft music and read for a while. It'll burn you out.
Example: it's 1am on the East Coast. I know no fewer than 10 other people in my group of acquaintances who are staying up late watching freaking CSpan to watch a Senate vote live because we don't know what our healthcare system will look like in the morning. This isn't normal.

Yeah, i know.... I do feel badly for you and all the other folks that didn't support the GOP, as you are caught in the middle... i think my comments were really coming from my own frustration on the process and how ideologically driven the GOP have been on both Obamacare, but also turning a blind eye as Trump is destroying things.
And frankly, I honestly don't think some people understood the ACA is Obamacare, or they actually believed in Trump and that "they could make Obamacare better"... Part of that is willful ignorance and part of it is honestly not understanding the complexity of the legislation...
there aren't any 'good' solutions at this point in time... however, if the GOP hasn't destroyed the US government by 2020, the dems could go back in with a new ACA...this is of course dependent on the GOP base voting for their own self interests over the dogma of the party...
