This is why I'm a republican! Why should "clean living" people like me have to pay for his brain tumor treatments? I mean, can you imagine the nasty things that guy did in POW camps? I would never do that, but somehow his brain tumor is our problem...

Or the real me says, I hope some other aging senators and their constituents take a really long, hard look in the mirror....

I'm reading the partial transcript of the NYT interview, and I have to post this because this is peak Trump insanity. I really wish this weren't real so I could laugh more.

Quote:
BAKER: What would cause you — what would be the line beyond which if Mueller went, you would say, “That’s too far, we would need to dismiss him”?

TRUMP: Look, there are so many conflicts that everybody has. Then Rosenstein becomes extremely angry because of [James B.] Comey’s Wednesday press conference, where he said that he would do the same thing he did a year ago with Hillary Clinton, and Rosenstein became extremely angry at that because, as a prosecutor, he knows that Comey did the wrong thing. Totally wrong thing. And he gives me a letter, O.K., he gives me a letter about Comey. And by the way, that was a tough letter, O.K. Now, perhaps I would have fired Comey anyway, and it certainly didn’t hurt to have the letter, O.K. But he gives me a very strong letter, and now he’s involved in the case. Well, that’s a conflict of interest. Do you know how many conflicts of interests there are? But then, then Comey also says that he did something in order to get the special prose— special counsel. He leaked. The reason he leaked. So, he illegally leaked.

TRUMP: So think of this. Mike. He illegally leaks, and everyone thinks it is illegal, and by the way, it looks like it’s classified and all that stuff. So he got — not a smart guy — he got tricked into that, because they didn’t even ask him that question. They asked him another question, O.K.?
________

TRUMP: He said I said “hope” — “I hope you can treat Flynn good” or something like that. I didn’t say anything.

But even if he did — like I said at the news conference on the, you know, Rose Garden — even if I did, that’s not — other people go a step further. I could have ended that whole thing just by saying — they say it can’t be obstruction because you can say: “It’s ended. It’s over. Period.”

________

TRUMP: And nothing was changed other than Richard Nixon came along. And when Nixon came along [inaudible] was pretty brutal, and out of courtesy, the F.B.I. started reporting to the Department of Justice. But there was nothing official, there was nothing from Congress. There was nothing — anything. But the F.B.I. person really reports directly to the president of the United States, which is interesting. You know, which is interesting. And I think we’re going to have a great new F.B.I. director.

HABERMAN: Chris Wray.

TRUMP: He’s highly thought of by everybody. I think I did the country a great service with respect to Comey.

A bit much don't you think? Was that really that awful? I mean especially compared to his approach on basically everything else? It obviously could have been much much worse

It's not horrible, but when compared to Obama's...it's just platitudes. Obama's is loaded with emotion. Trump's is, well...ok, that's about as generic a comment as you would come up with.

Curve grading him is how he ended up being President. Obama and Hillary actually worked with McCain so it's a lot different for them than the guy who said he doesn't like people who get captured. But "get well soon"....he realizes what McCain has right? It's not a cold, he's not signing his cast with a "get well soon". It was just a quickly prepared response that had to be made because if he didn't he would have eaten hell.

I didn't say it was the most compassionate expression of sympathy, I just think with everything else that's going on in American politics, senators reaction was a little over the top. I'm just not a fan of partisan sensationalism, even if it's against a political figure or party that I'm not a fan of.

TRUMP: I have had the best reviews on foreign land. So I go to Poland and make a speech. Enemies of mine in the media, enemies of mine are saying it was the greatest speech ever made on foreign soil by a president. I’m saying, man, they cover [garbled]. You saw the reviews I got on that speech. Poland was beautiful and wonderful, and the reception was incredible.

And then, went to France the following week, because it was the 100th year. [inaudible] The Paris Accord — I wasn’t going to get along with France for a little while, because people forget, because it is a very unfair agreement to us. China doesn’t get [garbled] until 2030. Russia goes back to 1994 as a standard — a much, much lower standard. India has things that are [garbled]. I want to do the same thing as everyone else. We can’t do that? We can’t do that? That’s O.K. Let me get out. Frankly, the people that like me, love that I got out.

After that, it was fairly surprising. He [President Emmanuel Macron of France] called me and said, “I’d love to have you there and honor you in France,” having to do with Bastille Day. Plus, it’s the 100th year of the First World War. That’s big. And I said yes. I mean, I have a great relationship with him. He’s a great guy.

HABERMAN: He was very deferential to you. Very.

TRUMP: He’s a great guy. Smart. Strong. Loves holding my hand.

HABERMAN: I’ve noticed.

TRUMP: People don’t realize he loves holding my hand. And that’s good, as far as that goes.

_________

TRUMP: I mean, really. He’s a very good person. And a tough guy, but look, he has to be. I think he is going to be a terrific president of France. But he does love holding my hand.

Also, remember this from a couple years ago?

Quote:
"I don't like losers," Trump, a Republican presidential contender for 2016, said at the Iowa Family Leadership Summit during a question-and-answer session.

Moderator Frank Luntz described McCain — a former naval pilot taken prisoner for almost six years during the Vietnam War — as a "war hero."

The real estate mogul then took a swing at McCain, whom he said he had supported in 2008.

"He's not a war hero," Trump said mockingly. "He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."

Christ, he's such a f'n jackass. He'll never let this go.

President Donald Trump put the power of the presidency behind one of his favorite theories on Wednesday, convening a panel to investigate voter fraud even though experts have largely dismissed his evidence-free claim that “millions” of illegal votes last year cost him the popular vote.
Quote:
The president further stoked fears of voter fraud at the start of the commission meeting on Wednesday, saying states that have declined to provide information to the committee are attempting to hide something.

A bipartisan group of secretaries of state declined to provide some voter information to the committee, voicing fears about the security of the data that they were asked to provide.

“What are they worried about?” Trump asked. “There’s something. There always is.”

My point wasn't to give him a free pass. What I'm saying is that your response of "are you ####ing kidding me?!" to his poorly worded message seemed kind of over the top for someone who's clearly been following his trainwreck of a presidency very closely. What were you expecting from this president? A tearful YouTube video tribute to McCain?I just think it's a waste of time to focus on little things like a poorly worded sympathy message when there are much more serious issues going on that people's attention should be focused. To me when people start nitpicking very basic human mistakes politicians make, it takes away from those people's credibility when they attack them for other more legitimate reasons. And it gives this president the ability to play the victim to his supporters, which if I had to guess, he'd probably try to use to his advantage. Lastly imagine how it would look if he came out for a press conference(if he ever held one) with one of his shoes untied and someone jumped out and said "Are you ####ing kidding me? Can't you even tie your shoes mr president?" Who comes off as more foolish in that scenario? People make small unintentional mistakes, even politicians, let's hold them accountable for the mistakes that actually matter shall we?

I would have expected something at least a little conciliative; considering McCain hasn't been some nasty thorn at Trump's side. So maybe publicly apologize to him for those things he said about his being captured as a POW, or at least word the statement to indicate he's sorry for how he acted during the campaign.

It's just another unchecked box from potential redeeming qualities of Trump.

Ignore the stupid clickbait title, really there is next to nothing about Trump in this great discussion with these 2 former presidents, but what is clear is seeing how nasty Trump has been with Obama after he became president is really showing us his character as a nasty, vindictive man child.

This is a great watch, lots of laughs and its really hard not to like Bush, funny guy.

I guess it should have been obvious given it's brevity that it was going to be his Twitter post, on two accounts no less. I wonder which was Android and which was IOS.
