Damn that McGrattan....what a guy! Probably one of the most influential people we've had in this organization in a long time.
Go Big 'Ern!

I love that our organization is a place where players feel they can come forward with this stuff and get support. Ferland, Big Ern... if we have a culture of support, that's huge.
I hope this means Poirier is headed for a breakout. I'd love to see a turnaround.

Posted this in the development camp thread, but I just spoke to Emile Poirier briefly. Congratulated him on getting back on his feet, and he seemed really happy, fit, and in shape. Great guy too.

Guy has all of the tools to be a very valuable middle six forward. Same kid who went head to head with (the at the time far and away best forward in his draft class) MacKinnon in the playoffs and looked very good. Blitzing speed, great hands and tenacious. Really hope this guy succeeds

Big 'Ern with the big heart! It would be nice if the Flames could find a role for him in their organization.

Can we not find a spot for Big Ern in the organization, scout, player development, Director of Keeping Brian Burke's Mouth Shut- anything!. Brian is the kind of person that I want to be associated with the Calgary Flames and I want our projects to associate his qualities with being a pro

I actually think we need to let him go so he can get a job with the League and work for the greater good.

This too....I could see McGrattan excelling in a counsellor type role for either the NHL or NHLPA.....whomever has the lead in this.

The guy's got wheels. He would fit in perfectly given the team's emphasis on speed. I'm making him my darkhorse candidate to make the team.

Poirier was so good in his first AHL season, probably the best forward on the team, it would be great to see that player return this season.

What a great young man. It's especially hard for young guys that age. They work so hard from early teens to 17 just trying get drafted and have an education, to sacrificing your prime partying years to not only make the NHL, but to stay there and build a legacy.
When it's all done they're in their 30s or 40s and can't go back to being 18 and paint the town. That's more than what most are capable of
