So it's fair for a city with a larger population to win because they have more fans.
But voting more than once makes it unfair if you "stuff the ballot box".
So basically - the site owner picks the winners based on his own opinion.
It's ok. He should just do away with the poll if he's going to John Scott us.

Let's wait and see before getting out the pitchforks. I'm sure he has info on his end like the voter's ip address. If he saw something like, on average, 5.5 votes per ip address, except for two addresses that voted thousands of times, it would be easy to cull the votes from those 2 addresses. That seems fair to me.
Edit: Reading through the comments, the site owner seems to say as much:

Site owner has poll with open voting. Then decides over "a few extra" is too many because he doesn't like the outcome?
How many is too many? If it was a couple IP's with 10000 votes each he would have said that.
He accused us of "stuffing the ballot box" but hasn't defined what that is because he doesn't want us to win an open poll where multiple votes count.
It's BS.

Without being able to see the live vote counts, he can really say the winner is whoever he wants it to be now. I'm not sure how removing the vote counts stops someone from flooding the vote.

For the record.
Detroit's logo is stupid - they haven't made a decent car in 40 years and the city is in the toilet as a result.
Toronto is there due to population and nothing else.
Chicago is a flat out racist stereotype from your Grandfather's comic books.
Calgary is a beautiful clean design with both history and success that clearly references the city and pays tribute to our Atlanta heritage. 10/10

I seem to remember the flaming C coming in at least top 5 in most logo polls or opinion pieces anyway. The flaming C is classic.
I voted twice while at work, then once on my phone last night when my wife was talking to me about something.
I guess I'm pathetic.

Yeah exactly. I find the comments here siding with the website confusing.
- 'You are all pitiful and pathetic'
- 'I respect this man and his decision'.

Looked like you couldn't even vote more than once, it would say your vote was already counted. How's spreading the word here count as "stuffing the box"

It seems likely that ip restrictions is something he enabled after he saw the "vote flooding".
There are issues with ip restrictions too - if he only allows one vote per ip address, he's going to prevent most households where multiple people want to vote since they will all be seen as a single ip. I'm hoping he looks at the vote distribution and only culls the obvious outliers.
In the end, there's no way of knowing unless he provides the raw data. I don't think there is any malicious intent on the site's end - I'm willing to chalk it up to naivety.

This is so hilarious because the guy takes his poll way too seriously.
Would be hilarious if CP jihaded the results of every poll he puts up going forward.

So wouldn't voting in an incognito browser get you around this?

This may be blasphemy, but the Red Wings logo is the best in the league, IMO.

If it turns out that someone, presumably from CP based on his comments, has been using some sort of bot or other clear method of influencing the poll that doesn't involve interested humans voting normally, then I'll retract all the negative things I said.
However, based on the site owner's comments, it is pretty clear that he considers promoting the poll and encouraging Flames fans to vote in larger numbers than other fanbases as cheating and ruining the poll.
It would appear that just because we have a centralized community on CP that supports our team in large numbers, when other teams don't know and don't care about this guy's website or his poll, somehow means we cheated.

Why do we assume it's the Flames fans that are the problem?
The Leafs have one of the lamest logos in the League and shouldn't have made it out of the second round in any fair poll of the best NHL logos.
If anyone was "stuffing the ballot box", it was them.

Exactly, there is no indication that voting for the Flames logo was the issue, could be a couple people voting for the Leafs logo.

I think it's pretty clear they are talking about the flames votes. If you Google icethetics tournament of logos the third link that pops up is this thread and the thread starts off by saying let's jihad this vote. I'm all for it and I've been voting but to think it's anything but our votes he is talking about is a stretch.
That being said let's vote the crap out of this!
