Jagr will be motivated to get to 2000 points, so I think he will do fine with any team that he signs for. The Flames would definitely benefit. Between Jagr and Iginla I will choose Jagr for the pure offensive capabilities.

I will choose neither. We already have more players than spots available.

On the third or fourth line he'll put up 20 points. I'd rather play Stajan than Jagr at this point, he's done.

It's incredible how wrong most of you guys are, Jagr is still a tremendous player. He would absolutely be one of the Flames' 6 best forwards if he were to sign here.

He got close to 50 points last season if memory serves?
His strength down low would be an asset on the top 2 lines. If there's room, I'd offer him a one year deal.

Sharp and Williams are gone. Marleau isn't coming here. Look up the top 30 remaining UFA wingers. Unless we want to commit big dollars and term to Radulov, which we don't, there's nobody remotely worthy of consideration.
Why Jagr? Because he had 46 points as a 45 year old. Because he plays RW. Because he's still a huge man with a huge reach who knows how to protect the puck. Because he'd be cheap, and he'd be on a one year term. Because he'd fit like a glove with Johnny and Sean, and finally, because I want a goddamn #68 in my closet.

46 last season, 66 the year before, then 57, then 67.

I'd offer Jagr a one-year deal for sure.

I think Jagr will take 3.0M
At least I hope so.....

Still would need one more roster player. Plus need the flexibility to have Jankowski or others at almost a million instead of the 650k guys, so realistically you are down to 2 million, or less.

PP specialist. Park him in front of the net.
That said my motives are entirely selfish: I just want the jersey.

He's not putting up 35 points here let alone 45. His playstyle fits Anaheim not Calgary. He'd be so slow on the first two lines he'd rarely be in the play and on the bottom 6 he'll be lucky to get 20.
Jagr is literally the worst fit for our core. Fast mobile transitions will not bode well with Jagr in our top 6, just not happening. Play Foo on the bottom 6, he'll put up 20 and make it back in time to not be a defensive liability.

1 year 1.68M.
Flames win the cup and Jagr retires a Flame.

I would buy his jersey tomorrow... but I'm doubting, happily so, that we are signing any free agents...

Would be all for adding Jagr at RE but Sammy, Ferland, Hathaway, Kulak all have to be resigned and that won't leave much left over.
9.6m to spread out... Hathaway and Kulak will be easy but I think Sammy and Ferland agents both are probably going to way over value their clients.
I wouldn't be shocked if Ferland goes to arbitration. NO rumours about that just my haunch he is going to ask 3-3.5m and Bennett even though he had a bad year is already at 3.2m and due to his age and top 5 draft is not going to take NO less than 4m.
Jagr would nice but we will not have much cap left to offer compared to other landing spots and Jagr I think likes that Sunny year round living.

I think like Hudler, he's smart enough he'd fit well with Johnny and Monny, especially the way he controls the puck along the boards and down low.
But that lack of speed is really concerning. I also don't think that would help (and probably would worsen) seeing that top line hemmed in our own zone as I don't think Jagr is defensively proficient with his lack of foot speed.
Plus at this age I think he's slowing down dramatically with each year.
Would love to see him in a Flames jersey but think I'd lean towards a no.

Maybe because Jagr is looking for over 3 years contract and asking for more than $4M a season. Love to see Jagr in Flames uniform but for less than $2M a season or even close to $1M for 1 year or 2. I am sure that will never happen though.

Because if you've watched each of them the past couple of years, Iginla is much more "done" than Jagr.

I think had Jagr been on Colorado playing with Blake Comeau instead of Barkov the last couple years he'd look a lot more "done" too.

It would be interesting playing with ferland and Bennetts north south game on the third line. He can hold onto the puck for hours, and add another element to that game. Along with first line pp duty, I think there could be value there.
