Made it to Ottawa. After some of the worst traffic I have ever encountered on Highway 7

Giant cell 3 Calgary's wide going to clobber Red Deer, and south Calgary is going to get a decent hit as well. Stay dry Canadians!

I'm working here at the Beer Vault but hopefully I can get down to the river later tonight where everybody is having fun.

Wait until you get downtown. I gave up when we got to within sight of the cenotaph. I don't remember the crowds being this crazy when I used to go to Parliament Hill.

ETA at least the weather held off!

Where on the river is Sara and Tegan by the way?

Down near where La Caille used to be?

The stage is on Riverfront Avenue at McLeod Trail SE by the Harry Hays Building. They are the headline act due to perform 10pm-11pm.

The fireworks should go just after 11pm and if last year is anything to go by they should be pretty spectacular. Hopefully the rain will clear out by then ....

Confirmed. That's what Nenshi said at Confed park today, at least.

Yeah I didn't dream of making it to the hill today lol. Rain came at the perfect time to drench me for the rest of the night. Watched the fireworks from behind the Museum of Civilisation and they were excellent at least!

I had a fun time at the Trafalgar Square celebrations. Sang Oh Canada, talked with a few cops who were really enjoying the festivities and saw the Grey Cup at the CFL stand.

There was a huge crowd but still easy to get around with a lot of excuse me and sorrys throughout the day. Free water bottles were supplied as long as you made a donation to charity for the young Canadian woman killed in the terrorist at London Bridge. The money went to Shelter, a homeless charity she supported.

Got and Iced Cap and Timbits. Then on to the beer. The Sleemans started getting a little warm so we headed off to the Porterhouse on Maiden Lane where they were doing 4 bottles of Moosehead for £12. Yes please and minutes later there was a table full of Moosehead bottles.

When the Porterhouse ran out of Moosehead we went along the street to the Maple Leaf and drank outside there. At 9 pm I realised all I'd had the whole day was beer and Timbits so we went to Five Guys, then back to the Maple Leaf.

It was a fantastic day and really nice to see so many people celebrating Canada here. I loved it all and I cannot believe how surprisingly well I feel today.

I hope you all had a wonderful Canada Day, and here's to the next 150!

I watched it from the hill by the memorial stairs by the pathways just below Cresent Rd.

First off, the people. It was insane. Prince's Island Park and that area must have had 50k people. Maybe more. It was basically shoulder to shoulder.

Cresent rd was equally insane. There had to be another 10k people up there.

We sat on the hill very close to centre street. Allowed us to see the bridge very clearly with no obstructions.

It was long but unspectacular compared to other fireworks shows I've seen. It was cool to be able to be above the bridge because we could actually see the fireworks being fired from the bridge.

I was satisfied but not wowed.

We sat on a towel at Princes island park. Was pretty cool. Some trees were blocking the lower ones but overall was worth the walk over.
