Great colluding so San Jose can get value for him at the trade deadline. Must have made him feel like he owes the organization something.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
If Jumbo Joe re-ups in SJ, his one-year deal there could be in excess of $6M. Certainly, at least $6M.

I wonder if Marleau is looking at anything close to this. Great deal for Joe to cash in one large payday

Would there be cap space for Marleau if this figure is accurate?

Not sure but apparently 3 other teams are in the mix that probably do. Maybe only 2 since Rangers went shatty

As @KKurzNBCS first reported, Joe Thornton intends to return to SJ. Terms are set but nothing signed yet. One year deal. At least $6M.

I think SJ has something like $16 mil in salary cap space (before adding Thornton). I would say there is plenty of room for Marleau as well.

Plenty of room for Brouwer.

Considering that San Jose is the only place where Thornton wants to play I'm surprised the salary is as high as it is.

This is a stupid amount of salary for Thorton. How did he become one of the highest paid F.As? And what is he thinking signing with San Jose considering he should be chasing a cup?

For $6.5M he decided he could just buy an exact cup replica and call it a day.
