My list:
Marleau > Vanek > Jokinen >> Jagr > Cammalleri > Sharp > Williams > Iginla >>> Hudler >>> Doan
A big reason why I don't want Williams is because I feel his contract will likely be too long, a la Brouwer.

Rumor:
It's confirmed, The #NHLJets have signed G Steve Mason. Deal is expected to be announced Saturday. Has already found a place to rent #wfp
https://twitter.com/jeffkhamilton/st...569%26page%3D5
I alaways wondered why not sign Mason for free instead of giving up picks for Smith?

Don't see what the problem with Vanek is. He was highly productive for cheap with both Detroit and Florida, two bad teams, last year.

Because Mason's deal is almost certainly for +3 years.

Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Cammalleri - Bennett - Versteeg

It would give you an interesting option, and in the end it all depends on what the players want for dollars and term.
In my opinion, if all three players are asking for the exact same $$ and term you go Williams>Sharp>Cammalleri>
I totally understand your view. I just think besides the the trigger man on the PP, one which Calgary was a very respectable 10th in the league, he doesn't bring the intangibles that a young team looking to go deep in the Playoffs require from a veteran.

Because Mason does not have the pedigree as Smith AND Smith is not an unknown quantity to the Flames management, while Mason is a massive unknown.
Treliving and Maloney know EVERYTHING about Smith. They know how he responds to bad goals, they know how he is in the dressing room, they know how his life habits are, they know his character, they know what equipment he uses, they know what he is capable of.
Why would you not go with the thing you know and opt for the thing that you know nothing about? Especially considering the fact that the thing that you know nothing about is not exactly at quality asset, at least not one where the team that had him last year and needs a goalie this year is not even interested. Doesn't that tell you something when his own team who is desperate enough to sign Brian Elliott, doesn't even want him?

I can't possibly stand another round of Cammalleri. I panic every time I have to spell it and while he fits in nicely with the group of older gentlemen we're talking about, he's never done anything of substance. Plus he's small, weak, and hasn't played close to a full season in almost a decade (save the lockout shortened season). A decade!
We're talking about guys who have won cups, won individual awards, can play at two ends, and people are bringing up Mr.60 games/40 points Cammalleri? Pass.
Marleau > Williams > Sharp > Jagr > Vanek > Jokinen > Iginla > Cammalleri > Doan
Give me the first one out of that list you can afford, but if you get down to Iginla and have to pay more than a million, give me none.

My wish list:
1. Iginla
2. Sharp
3. Cammalleri
4. Jagr
5. Doan
I think whoever signs has to be on a one or two year deal, and has to come in somewhere between 1 and 3M. That rules Marleau out in my mind, hence the list above.

I always accidentally say Cammalleri when trying to order calamari. Waitresses look at you weird.
