I was a big fan of bouwma during his days under Hartley, but I'm glad he's gone. Hopefully this means Hathaway has a permanent spot with the big club

I have a weird feeling that it's going to be Justin Williams.

I was a big fan of Bouma. Then he got paid and hasn't been the same since, while getting passed is usefulness by F.Hamilton, Hathaway, and Lazar. All of which are much cheaper too. Ferland sprinted past him too.
That money is much better spent elsewhere.

Good riddance, can't say I was ever a fan. Didn't bring much at all whenever he was on the ice, will be nice to see someone else take up his roster spot.

Bouma was as a warrior for us for a few years. Blocking shots like a madman, working hard. Great year to help us get into the playoffs for the first time in a while. Unfortunately, there is just no more room for him now. Best of luck to him.
Wonder who we will be signing tomorrow. Exciting.

Based on what Gully was saying on the radio this morning, you have to give Williams the nod over Cammy. He specifically said they were looking for a Righty.
Although he also spent a lot more time / passion talking about a #5 D-Man.

So the choice was between
1) Bury Bouma and have a 1.175m cap hit for one year
2) Buy him out to a 666k caphit this year and 766k next year.
I can't imagine the savings being anything of significance either way but could be a favor done to the player for years of service in literally laying his body for the team.
Wish the best of luck to Bouma.

Good move. Lazar or Hathaway are more hungry to make an impact on that 4th line.

Bye Bouma, I wish you the best. I loved what a warrior you were. I'm sorry that Hartley decided to use you as a meat shield. Operation "get behind the 4th liner" is over.

hmm, am trying to figure out what the flames cap number is after this move.... hard to say as it's unclear what kind of contract bennett/ferland sign. Safe to assume Lazar/Kulak come in in the $1.2M range range each?

Except for the million pucks he blocked with his body the last few years. Other than that he didn't offer much. Gotta give him props for being a warrior though.

Lazar will likely come back in at 800k like his last contract, hes done nothing to warrant a raise.
