What are you talking about? Regardless, I stated initially that it was a good contract but my point is in the big picture I'd like to see CGY develop some prosepect wingers and have them step in.
Lighten up, buddy

No need for Marleau. They have Janko.

Here's where we sit contract wise as of right now
Gaudreau (6.75)-Monahan (6.375)-Ferland (Approx 1.5)
Tkachuk (1.775)-Backlund (3.575)-Frolik (4.3)
Jankowski (.925)-Bennett (Approx 2.75)-Versteeg (1.75)
Lazar (Approx 1)-Stajan (3.5)-Brouwer (4.5)
Bouma (2.2)
Gio (6.75)-Ham1 (5.75)
Brodie (4.65)-Ham2 (3.857)
Kulak (Approx .9)-Andersson (.863)
Smith (4.25)
Gillies (Approx .9)
Raymond Buyout + overages from last year - 1.65
Total 70.47 million.
That means in order to sign anyone other than throwing kids into the mix, Calgary will have 4.5 million left over.
Buying out Stajan would save 1.333 million, or the approximate salary of Jankowski + 400K, and would cost .667 next year. Bouma would save 1.533 million this year and would cost .767 next year. That would cover Lazar + Freddie's contracts.
Just outright burying them in the farm would save 1.8 for the two (900K each as a write off), so a million dollars less in savings, but you wouldn't be penalized 1.4 million next year. If that was the route that was taken, then you would basically just be replacing Stajan and Bouma on the roster with Janko + Lazar at par contracts.

Knock 600K on to that total for Bartowski (#7 D).

Thrilled to have Versteeg back in Calgary. He was consistent all year and I felt really elevated his game during the playoffs despite the fact we were swept.

Er, I actually posted it because of the "Kesler Sniffs Farts" sign in the background... but that too

Nice contract. There's a couple of things I don't like about his game, but for that price tag I can live with it.

Yeah Bouma is in a contract year. He'll be looking to prove he's still an nhler. I think we'll see a very motivated Bouma this season
