Fook-yah! After all the draft picks we gave up recently, nice to get a free asset back. Probably the equivalent of a 1st or 2nd. Hopefully the kid can make the jump quick and light it up.

If you think of it this way and mathematical like, then Hamonic + Foo + 4th for Calgary 1st and 2 2nds.

Better deal then Reinhart

I doubt Versteeg is back either.

Anyone think that Foo gets a shot at the top line? Perhaps alongside Bennett? Maybe with Backlund and Frolik? Which lineup do you like better?

1) Gaudreau-Monahan-Foo
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Ferland-Bennett-Brouwer
Bouma-Stajan-Lazar

2) Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Lazar-Bennett-Foo
Bouma-Stajan-Brouwer

3) Gaudreau-Monahan-Tkachuk
Frolik-Backlund-Foo
Ferland-Bennett-Lazar
Bouma-Stajan-Brouwer
I like 2 for sure, Briower on the 4th line, Ferland getting the continued opportunity until he loses it, 3M line intact, 2 speedy wingers with upside alongside Bennett.

How does he compare to Jimmy Vesey and Drake Cagguila in terms of expectations? Closer to Vesey I would assume.

Yeah. Can't see the name on the back.

Maybe the kid is a Ladislav Smid fan.

This is amazing and speaks volumes to the way Treliving has turned Calgary into a top destination for free agents. This, despite our "crumbling" arena.

For years Calgary seemed to be lumped in with teams that have to overpay for UFA's. No longer.

Wizard.

Didn't know much about the player until now, but I know that I love thwarting the Oilers.

Versteeg last year
Foo this year

A nice new annual tradition.

Does anyone remember how he looked last year at prospect camp? I Foorget.

Calgary hasn't guaranteed a roster spot to a prospect since Johnny Gaudreau, and that was Hartley himself doing that.

Very similar to Versteeg last year (Edmonton never guaranteed him a spot). Had they have, they would have signed him but in both cases they didn't so both players signed with the Flames.
Versteeg is an established NHL vet who had a fantastic training camp. Not similar.

I found this chart as Vesey was set to sign and make his NHL debut.

I edited it to include Vesey's actual NHL results and also added the details for Foo's final season and NHLE:

Updated with the accurate NHLE of 31.
