Disagree with the people who wanted the Flames to pick a forward. Always go BPA

From reports I've read Valimaki is one of the more consistent players in the draft. Just remains to be seen what his ceiling really is...

Man this could be a great draft if the Flames could trade up somehow and pick up Vesalainen as well.

BPA is how the Ducks got Lindholm and the Canadiens got Price

Bpa is best in the first round. Not sure what that has to do with burying ones head.

Wingers are easy to trade for, least valuable commodity in the NHL.
Defencemen meanwhile are hard to trade for, one of the most valuable commodities in the NHL. You can trade them for anything you need.
NSH drafted defencemen after defencemen for years. Sure didn't work for them eh?
You're such a wet blanket New Era. Pathetic comments about Valimaki. You don't know he's average. You should be embarrassed

I said I'd prefer this guy over Foote if Treliving was going to go with a D before the draft started. Other posters agreed.

Didn't the Flames once traded for a RW, that turned out to be one of the best natural RWers in the NHL?

With the (Matchbox) 20th overall pick, St Louis picks Rob Thomas.

Considering the Finnish forwards that people were talking about, Tolvanen to me is like 75% bust, 25% poor man's Cammalleri; Vesalainen is almost certainly a bottom-6 forward.
The idea of getting either of them didn't really excite me, although if Vesalainen's U18 stats indicate something new about him, then there might be something there. But the Välimäki is definitely ahead of them.

You know, I really wish you would just STFU. I'm just expressing my opinion. I didn't slag our pick, unless you think saying he's an average player at his position, and a replacement for Hickey, who I think is a future #3-4 defenseman, is an insult. Jesus, I'm sorry, I'm not going to be a ####ing sycophant of the hockey club and agree with everything they do. It is my opinion and I have the right to express it.

Do the Flames have anything they can trade to get back into the first? Seems like quite the opportunity to get a decent shot at a good winger still.
